Default bridge battles i hate them Mofo's

Is there anyway bridge battles can be more enjoyable. when ever theirs a bridge battle the team that's waiting for the opposing team to cross has a major advantage and sometimes the A.I won't move at all. what if their were more then one bride to cross on the battle map.

Thats the point with bridges. It makes it strategically impossible with some tactics. And thats why you should avoid bridge battles.
    Its totally about thinking strategical.

yes, the most dangerous thing you can do is to fight a bridge battle against an army with some siege weapons, your general could end eating a ballista bolt or crushed by a fire proyectil...

(i hate that, i prefer a honorable death figthing, i also hate that because one time i was with my 2 best generals and both died nearly at the same time because an artillery barrage)

Okay K. of Axum, I need to get this off my chest. Why did you decide to make a thread about generic battle mechanics in the Broken Crescent forums?

From here on I will simply close any thread that is totally unrelated to BC and belongs in the general M2TW section. And any other thread that are remotely related to any of our factions or campaign elements will be merged with those threads ASAP.

Sorry if I sound prick-ish but perhaps pre-empting thread spam would be wise from this point onwards.

yo. the reason why i mentioned this in BC is simply because improving this minor problem could bring more fans

    AVOID BRIDGE BATTLES.

Or just make it like firekiller says, like in BI ... swim over the sea.

But it will be fun to see some heavy ghulams, and other hevaily armoured warriors swim over a river.

If you don't like bridge battles avoide them, it's not that hard

There are some slight improvement which can be made in terms of how the Ai will approach the bridge battles, however, what really determines that, is in the MTW2.exe. Find me a source code, and I'll take a look at it

The thing is some players prefer to lure the AI armies on the bridge and slather them there with 1/3 of the effort, and we all know that’s a cheep move concerning that game is easy as it is. If AI won’t cross the bridge that's good, so you will have to cross which makes it already more interesting. Problem solved -wow, look at those new fans poring in.

yea but even if you out number the enemy army and you decide to cross the bridge in a matter of seconds the A.I can surround you and take your army out piece by piece

Bridge battles are great, and in BC you'll have to be extra careful. Sending highly expensive cavalry across bridges and fords against even levies will result in disaster.

This has to be the first time I've heard complaints about the AI being too difficult. K. of Axum, you deserve an award.

i treat bridge battles like sieges, dont fight them unless you have to, and if you have to make sure your gonna win.

but i use as much archer fire as i can to soften up the enemy and then do 1 of 2 things both siege type things.

    1) line breakers, use tough killer heavy infantry to try and cut your way accross the bridge. Cavalry is not a good idea as they tend to get pinned in place and cut down.

Then funnel in other units, cavalry archers are good, if you have the space to get them through.

with my current danish campaign i have 2 full stack of gold skill infantry which i ship around for starting wars, stopping jihads etc they make excellent line breakers.

    2) use cheap units to tie up the enemy army on the bridge then throw everything (incl. the kitchen sink) at them missile wise, ignoring your own casualties. then counter attack.
God does not love the treachorous
