    Default Pro Deo et Rege - AoR Update 1.7

    Latest update at Filefront: AoR update 1.7

    GENERAL:
    1. The aim of this modification is to give each faction at least one free upkeep unit for the city as well as the castle barracks.
    2. This unit should be linked to the Area of Recruitment (AoR).

    NOTE:
    - It is save compatible, but your finances will suffer as free upkeep units outside their AoR will loose their free upkeep (unless you had already version 1.2).

    INSTALLATION:
    Point the installer to the root directory of M2TW (C:\..\Medieval II Total War\).

    IMPORTANT:
    PDER 04 Install.bat will copy loads of necessary files. When asked, give permission! Otherwise run the file manually after the install finishes.

    HISTORY:
    Change log AoR Update version 1.7
    - Corrected issue with cfg file where the regular M2TW started and not PDER.
    - Corrected 'empty rebel towns' bug.

    - Updated missing unit info and unit cards for Mongols and Timurids.
    - Busted some battlefield 'ghosts'.
    - Introduced an 'old' loading bar: Beckett's Gladius from RTW.

    Change log AoR Update version 1.6
    - Re-introduced resources glass (North Italy) and olive oil (Iberia). So far the icons on the map are still dogs and camels respectively. Need to get the proper cas files (RTW ones don't work), but until then you have 2 more trade items (needs new campaign to take effect).
    - Removed the flood event (it disallowed building forts\towers and slowed down movement until eternity).
    - Made the Papal Guard free upkeep and adjusted the recruit pool slightly upwards. That should get the old man going nicely now.
    - Reduced 'Shady Dealer' Trait chance for merchants. (Some merchants start off with minus 2 stars!)

    Change log AoR Update version 1.55
    - Added the PDER 04 Install.bat file (modified PDER 0.4 Install.zip)
    - Provided a desktop shortcut to the mod.

    Change log AoR Update version 1.5
    - added Timurids to the equestrian line of buildings
    - Timurid bodyguards should now be available (feed back please!)

    Change log AoR Update version 1.4
    - added updated modeldb file to allow for new AoR (old standard) units
    - added missing unit and info files for new AoR (old standard) units

    Change log AoR Update version 1.3
    - Included the Americas into the AoR.
    - Re-introduced the Conquistadores
    - Re-populated American rebel provinces
    - Included 'Resources 1.1'
    - Included changed AI behaviour in descr_strat.txt (thanks to ??)
    - Changed militia units in EDU to be mercenary units (lack of change in modeldb file)

    Change log AoR Update version 1.2
    - Free upkeep and recruitment of city units now linked to AoR. No more woodsmen in Africa!
    - Changed name of update from 'Slow and Easy' to 'AoR Update'.

    Change log Slow and Easy version 1.1
    - Added recruitment buildings\units for Timurids and Mongols.
    - Cleared up the double infos for archery and stables.
    - Made the following units available everywhere:
    - Desert Cavalry
    - Desert Archers
    - Khazaks

    Change log Slow and Easy version 1.0
    - Sorted out the unavailability of free city upkeep units for Italian factions.
    - Cleared up the double infos for barracks

    Hey gigantus, did you forget to update the turk equestrian for Timurid? I notice the dismounted units and Khan Guard isnt there for Mongols and Timurids.

    You were right about the stable line. It is activated in version 1.5.
    As to the dismounted units: I have simply enabled the Turkish AoR units for the Timurids, any chages will have to be implemented at a later stage.

    Version 1.55 and up includes the Install Creator Project file. You should be able to see how I set up everything.

    I will say that Im sorry in advance for this question. Im confused about the install steps of this 1.6. Should I install the PDER Update 1 first and then 1.6 and then all of the extras like blood and sky and generals? I installed in this order and my game crashes after the load up screen....I'm a wee bit stumped.

    First install the basic PDER download. Then install the latest AoR update. After that the Sky and Blood mod. Might have to be careful with the Generals mod as it needs some adjustments. The last one might have caused your crash. Have a careful look into the installation instructions.

    Have look in the error log in the M2TW\log directory and see what the the error message is.

    I'm having trouble with the AOR update after I install it. When I click the icon it just goes into vanilla M2TW. Can't figure out how to get it to work. Anyone know what i'm doing wrong?

    1. Which version?
    2. Did you install into the right directory? If it goes into vanilla than there is usually a problem with the launcher, meaning it can't find the modded directory.

    Hi Gigantus,

    I'm having a problem after installing your update, all rebel cities loses their garissoned troops (or if starting a game all rebel cities have no troops at all). I installed PDER in this order: 1) PDER 4beta 2) patch 1 3) PDER-GrandViz AI 4) PDER-RealCombat 5) PDER-Sky & Blood2 6) PDER-Early Generals 7) PDER AoR 1.6 (but same problem with 1.55).

    Please help. Thanks

    Not sure what the problem might be. Most likely something with the descr_strat file. To be sure, uninstall PDER completely (delete the directory) and try installing steps 1,2 and 7 only and then try again. After that we can be pretty sure where the bug is.

    Hi Gigantus,

    Still the same problem. No rebels! I tried the following steps:
    1) Install PDER 4beta
    2) PDER Patch1
    3) PDER AoR 1.6

    Also I think you need to correct the cfg file since it points to a mod named 'PDER' where in fact it should be 'PDER_v.0.4_Beta'

    Thanks for pointing out the cfg issue, it will be addressed in the 1.7 version which I am planning to release this evening.

    Now I am bit confused: which one is it?
    1. At the start of the game there are no rebels in the cities (all, which cities?)
    2. The rebels disappear after some rounds (all, which cities?)

    I will check the descr_start file in version 1.6, the only point where these rebels are set up.

    Edit: Found it. Fixed it. See version 1.7

    The problem seems to be the cfg file. If your [feature] entry doesn't look like this

    mod = PDER_v.0.4_Beta
    change it or download version 1.7 where it is fixed.

    Woohoo! Just got Kingdoms and am unpacking all the mini-campaigns right now! So I should be adding some of the new units to the AOR recruitment pools soon! As soon as I get a chance to play the Crusader campaign!

    I think Kingdoms is released in US a month before UK and other areas so we won t be able to play the update for a month. Don t know why this is happening.
