Thread: How would you rate your government?

Default How would you rate your government?

On a scale of 0-10, how would you rate the current government of your country? What parties are in a coalition? What good has it done, what bad?

My government receives a rating of 8.5/10. I'm happy, the government has a spine needed to stand up against a certain eastern neighbor, and all the right parties are in the coalition. The Reform Party(Market-liberals), Union of Pro Patria and Res Publica (Conservatives) and the Social Democrats ( Obvious who they are). The prime minister Andrus Ansip is from the Reform party, and has done a great job so far. The removal of the Bronze Soldier was done quickly, and the riots were put down within 2 days. The foreign minister Urmas Paet is good, although i hoped to see Mart Laar take the seat. Income tax will be decreased, which is a good thing in my opinion. The economy should continue fast growth. It's safe to say that Estonia has not seen a government this good since the 1990's.

Id give congress a 7/10 for doing good things like raising minimum wage and investigating Bush corruption. Its too early to tell how good this congress will be. However, I would give the executive branch a 1/10 rating for screwing up America in many way.

Executive Branch: 4/10 Either it's widely incompetent or it has completely different priorities than what I think it should have. More than likely a mixture of the two. The biggest thing that irks me is that over the course of the past 200 years it has overstepped its role and now seems to dominate the other two branches of government.

Legislative Branch: 3/10 Come on people! Are you men? Non-binding resolutions? Wasting all day on pork? Disgusting, some of you have your hearts in the right place, but most of you are too content with being the president's play thing. Giving the President a blank check to conduct a war? Remember Vietnam much?

Judaical Branch: 5/10 I love you guys, I really do. But you're a separate branch of government, act like one! You guys are supposed to check the power of the other two branches, but most of the time people forget you even exist. My favorite branch of government, and even though I like balance, I wouldn't mind if you were the most powerful branch of government; we are a nation of laws, after all.

Not great, but not bad either. We made some major mistakes and have quite a few problems to deal with it, but were dealing with them ( and its about bloody time too). U.S.A is a great country but not without its flaws.

    Bunch of sellouts.
The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will, for the most part, be connected. The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State. - James Madison

    Taking Iraq into consideration, 2/10.
Ignoring Iraq, 6/10. Can't stop thinking that the UK economy is bound to go tits up at any moment.

Putin may have done a lot to restore basic dignity to the country, and indeed economic success under him has been great, but I don't like either his policy of adopting socialist symbols nor of gradually promoting socialism through public ownership of enterprises. On the other hand, it's better than the oligarchs owning them. The only bad consequences of the present government is the rather low foreign relations, but I blame that on the bad spin the country gets in the west and British intrigues which, to be fair, have been going on for centuries at this point in time. Them tackling the demographic decline also shows some thought for the future. Overall, the country has made great leaps with the present government heading it, but since it's the country's first real government (one that did not come to power in a revolution) since the Soviet era, there is little to compare it to.

    5/10

I say 5/10 because while I disagree with some of the things that have been done, it's hard to ignore that the UK economy is doing well at the moment. The pound is high, and generally things are OK. But some of the attempts to please various groups have gone awry - particularly I would say Education. As I see it, while we're doing OK right now, I think the changes made are a quick fix. I could go into more detail, but generally I'm in two minds. Half good, half bad.

    BUT

I really, really do think Brown's leadership of Labour are a FAR better alternative than the Tory's who are basically in my eyes in turmoil, with a bloody awful PM candidate. David Cameron is not a politician, he's an actor. And a paper thin one at that. So in that respect, I'm happier with how we are than how we could be.

Frankly, though, we've been sold out. While Brown does seem to be an improvement - and for me I am happy that the guy is talking policy, change and well. REAL POLITICS, compared to the Tory bluster and pomp. But I do still disagree with some of those policies.

I was about to say the same thing.

How you guys can give them anything above a zero is beyond me.

I was being nice by not giving them negative.

My government requires negatives, if it is to be properly rated.

    Blair

2/10 Shafted us into the EU and became Bush's (Americas) lapdog. EU lover

    Brown

6/10 Seems good so far, distancing us from America and stopped Blair from adopting the Euro.
