Default Modder use of TW splash.tga

not to sure how many of you have used the proper legal (whatever you call it) text on the splash screens for your mods but since i took the time to write it all out for a mod of mine i decided to share the text with you all so if you were to create a new splash screen yourself you could just copy this into your image.

Cool, very useful! I had always just used some selection majik on the default splash screen test but this is more flexible and useful.

Yes, this is really good! +Rep.

Does anyone actually know if it must be included? I say sticky this, and a volunteer could do the same for M2TW too! Now all we need is to find the correct font and/or someone to make a psd-layer of it (so that everything else is invisible, only text and logos visible...)

@SLK thanks for that, and thanks for pm about possibility of including it on Wiki too - I think that's a great idea, well volunteered

I don't think it fits under anything already there, type in an Url to a page name you think would be suitable like:
    http://www.twcenter.net/wiki/Splash_screen_text
and make a new page for it. Put [[Category:Modding]] at bottom and it will appear in modding category.

Could add a note to mark which bits come from the original screen and which part (bottom para) is suggestion for mods. I like the suggestion part by the way, sums things up rather well.

...and like Arakorn-eir I would be interested to know which bits officially have to be included, if anyone can figure that out....

AFAIK nothing "has" to be included. CA has to include them as part of their licensing deals with MILES, BINK, Gamespy, etc., but modders just do it out of courtesy, fear, or aesthetics.

My understanding - and so what FATW has pursued - is that legal info *and* logos on the splash screen should not be removed. It is also my understanding that a statement must be placed basically saying that SEGA/CA are not responsible for the mod. I think some form of contact info is also required. I've stuck all this on the fatw spash.

I did read this somewhere long ago. It's stuck in my mind. Perhaps Lusted or someone would know what the actual truth of the matter is?

I'm thinking the same thing. Is this really necassary? I mean ofcourse CA isn't responsible for the content of the mod. It's not like the people playing haven't seen the splash screen at least once before.
