Damn I love this mod.
I especially like the custom campaigns as you get to start on a higher tier and not have to run through the same old 1st tier units.
Another benefit is you get to fight better AI armies with later troop types.
It is a shame there is no option to begin the grand campaign at later dates as it is just so much more fun! I don't mean to be rude, but is there any possibility of this in a later version of LTC?
IN-HOC-SIGNO-VINCES
Yeah it's definitely a possibility as perhaps a replacement to the Tutorial campaign, or as a couple of custom campaigns.

Brilliant!
I think it would be easier to just put them in custom campaigns. The map would change a little (ownership of some provinces) and you would have to settle on a tier and date to start on.
The only problem I foresee is that you cant go too late as you will lose the Byzantines.
IN-HOC-SIGNO-VINCES
I think i might go with replacing the tutorial campaign as it doesn't work in LTC anyway, and frankly i'm not going to fix it.
I'll likely have that campaign start sometime in the 13th century, and i also want to edit the Grand campaign so the starting ownership of provinces is changed slightly, so it will be mor elike the original MTW for some factions, so England holding Bordeaux, HRE holding Hamburg and Magdeburg etc., things like that.

Maybe you could start dead on or just before the beginning of the fourth crusade (1204). If you start later you will need to create a Latin Empire faction (established after the sack of Constantinople)....

When did the Byzantiens recapture Constantinople?

1261

Sometime around then would likely be a better start date for the campaign, especially with Byzantium trying to regain power.

After re-reading the 3.1 one changes I have another couple of questions:
Does:
-Lanbridges added to HYW and Grand campaign at the Pas-de-Calais
mean that the English will be able to wander into France without boats, and vice-versa, like in MTW?
And does:
-Slight changes to the way money gifts and certain events effect relations with the Pope so he is less easy to manipulate.
mean that it's just more expensive to manipulate the Pope or is it more complex than that? E.g. have changes to the money script/ faction standings meant that the Papacy are richer anyway and so dont respond to money as much?
:hmmm:
It is only the dead who have seen the end of war.

Yup.mean that the English will be able to wander into France without boats, and vice-versa, like in MTW?
That one, cash gifts have less of a reputation boost than they used to so you have to gvie much more cash for the same effect.mean that it's just more expensive to manipulate the Pope

No. All you need to do is have M2TW patched to 1.2, and then you can just isntall the mod.

OK thanks, nice touches. I thought buddying-up with the Pope was a bit easy in Vanilla, plus due to no landbridge I used to have to keep a few Cogs in the water to ferry troops to the mainland, which was taking up extra cash.
I take it installing over the top of 3.0 will just overwrite the desktop shortcut etc.?
It is only the dead who have seen the end of war.
Plato
Yes it will use the same shortcut. The easy way to tell if 3.1 has installed successfully, load up the Grand Campaign as England and put your mouse over York. If it says Independent Faction Town/Village(can't remember which) Northumbria then it's installed properly. Another way you can tell that 3.1 has installed successfully is if regions start having names like Magreb, Gascony, Livonia etc.I take it installing over the top of 3.0 will just overwrite the desktop shortcut etc.?

The high period campaign start sounds awesome. That is what I've wanted ever since M2TW is released, and there's no better mod to have it than LTC (I can't play other mods as they all feel so.. unpolished).
One of the best parts would be much less rebel provinces at the start, like in MTW.
I assume it would begin the feudal era (so you'd have feudal knights and all their same-tier units). That would be great. I don't like starting with armies of spear militia only.
