Avrigus (FREE MUSIC!)
Due to a dispute with their record label, Avrigus are giving away their debut album The Secret Kingdom and EP The Final Wish for free on their website via torrent (so you need azureus/bittorrent etc. to get it to work)

Right click and save as where it says 'Click here to download The Secret Kingdom using Bit Torrent'

Avrigus ~ The Secret Kingdom
Gothic/Doom Metal
Although I listed this as 'doom metal', this is perhaps the lightest metal music you'll ever hear, and is often closer to bands like Dead Can Dance. A lot of the music is led by piano and acoustic guitar and when the distorted metal guitars are introduced they are played at a slow pace to add to the dark sorrowful atmosphere (which Avrigus succeed in creating brilliantly). Some of the songs such as 'Shade of my Heart' are even completely ambient. Despite the slow pace of the music, it doesn't get boring and is quite catchy mainly because of the use of the keyboard. The atmosphere is also enhanced by the use of sound effects like thunder and rain in the distance.
Judy Chiara's fantastic singing is what really characterises the album, she really is one of the best singers I've ever heard and adds brilliantly to the gloomy atmosphere.
Even if you don't normally like metal at all, you will probably still like this. After all it's free, there's no reason not to at least give it a listen. One of the most beautiful metal albums ever recorded.

DO IT ,DO IT NOW!
This sort of Metal is not my usual cup of tea but I love this album. My favourite Avrigus track is The Final Wish but Flesh comes a close second

'Flesh' is probably my favourite, followed by 'Qliphoph' and 'The Grail'
