I'd love to see ragdoll physics with the new TW. Doesn't have to be every death, just deaths caused by artillery, falling from a wall, cavalry, or strong infantry charges.

It could still sell very well, since the Medieval era is possibly the safest and most popular timeframe for a strat game to be set in. But I for one would be disappointed if CA really are just going for the moolah in a Medieval>Rome>Medieval 2>Rome 2>Medieval 3 cycle. If Rome 2 really is the next game I might still buy it since there isn't really anything in the same sub-genre as the TW series right now, but I don't expect to be as excited about it as I have been about previous games.
Please CA, take us somewhere radically different next time! Even a conventional fantasy setting would be fine, although a combined China/Korea/Japan-themed game really is overdue
To be honest, the era isn't the big thing for me. What I look forward to most is a revolution in how the campaign game works. The map we have now with agents and armies all taking up one of those "squares" is extremely flawed. I think emissaries should work somewhat how they did in MTW1. We need a real nobility (not a family tree), and we need a revolution in the way armies maneuvre and go into battle.
I for one would love either a new shogun ( I never really got a chance to play it when it came out since I was to young) or a new rome, rome for me is what got me started on this whole series, and just for it to have the features that medieval 2 has would be a big treat for me, plus to me those to time frames really intrest me the most
Fat cats will rule the world.
No it is not too early for another Rome game or Medieval .... it is better to make them, but I'd like R2TW myself

Hmm, interesting.
I was hoping for some sort of Asia: TW but I have to admit I enjoy the Classical/Ancient era much more than Medieval, the factions are much more diverse and interesting IMO.
If this is true, I can only imagine the step up of graphics from now to then, DirectX10 is ready... ooh. They better work on the AI like buggers though.
I'm excited but still skeptical until I hear something from CA.
Among those of us devotees of both MT2W and Mount&Blade, we would hope for a next generation game that would allow the king/general warfare style of TW series battles integrated with some third person fighting similar to Mount&Blade, with commands to troops on the fly possible as well. I really thnk it could revolutionize the genre: massive battles plus an in-battle RPG element!
But given the poor response from TW franchise regulars to SpartanTW on a console (and I agree about cartooney moves and powerups--however, play Mount&Blade and you will see that such excesses are not necessary, and that it can be quite fun to control a central character as well on a larger battlefield) I would be pleasantly supprised to see such a hybrid that blends well the best elements of each current game type.
As for setting: I personally think the dark ages or perhaps medieval ages are the most "fun" setting. Admittedly, the gameplay, graphics, and other innovations are much more important than setting. I had no special interest in feudal japan way back when STW came out, but it was groundbreaking in terms of gameplay and graphics and strategy, so I loved playing it.
I think the idea of a Napoleonic Total war is okay, just kinda weird compared to the rest of the series. I do think though, that the next two games will be a Shogun 2(Hopefully incorporating more of Asia, to get more action in), and Rome 2. The order though, could go either way. I also like the idea of a Dark Ages Total War. Would really be interesting.
Maybe I hate the idea of Rome Two since I have been playing the series for five or six years.
I want a pre-rome game, focussing on the time of Greece's golden age, the Persian empire, the Hittites, ye olde egypt, ancient babylon, etc.
In other words, before the west was the west, Italy was nothing but another peninsula with a few greek colonies (maybe) and the celts were on their giant migration.
Parthia: Total War
That would be the best game ever.
Cordially, Lord Romanus III
Rome 2!???!! HUZZAH!!!!
They should incorperate all of that into Rome 2.I want a pre-rome game, focussing on the time of Greece's golden age, the Persian empire, the Hittites, ye olde egypt, ancient babylon, etc.

Could've said the same for Medieval 2.It's too early for another Rome game.
Why? Safest? What do you mean?It could still sell very well, since the Medieval era is possibly the safest and most popular timeframe for a strat game to be set in.

A quote taken from that page by Kris Graft.
“Rome: Total War was a killer RTS that originally released in 2004 by Creative Assembly before Sega bought the firm. We’d say it’s overdue for a sequel.”
No brother no, what’s long over due is Shogun. I and like many know that the TW series all got started not with Rome but with Shogun it was Shoguns success as to why you have Rome. If Shogun failed I really don’t think we would have seen any other Total War. “Overdue … Rome” that really sickens me. Just remember and thank your gods that Shogun was a huge success in order to be playing Rome and Medieval Total War today. And as far as Saga goes we have had nothing but issues since CA sold out. I have Saga games that took a crap on me when I went to 2000 pro. Started getting a “divide by zero” error on loading those games and they did nothing to fix or patch those games. Now have XP pro and guess what they still don’t work. I wasn’t impressed by Saga after that. Believe me when I say we all have a rough road ahead if these nimrods are going to be making Total War games from here on out.
