Icon3 Mount&Blade: 'The Tavern' Share Tales of Travel or Boast of Deeds in Battle

Come here and boast of your glorious deeds on the battlefield or to tell tales of sorrow and woe!! From wierd and funny moments to those once-in-a-blue-moon battles, come here to share your tales with other M&B'ers.

    ****
Having had M&B for quite a while I have had some interesting things happen. Especially in ways I have died. While charging along on my horse an Axemen prepared to take a huge swing at me, so I slyly got my horse to jump - I avoided the blow only to leap in to an incoming arrow which shot my horse from underneath me -> mob swarm -> quick, brutal death.

On the Last Days last night I had spent ages fighting this Great Host of Mordor, down to their last man; I (on foot) hacked at him with a Great Axe and as he fell to his death *twang*, an arrow hits me right in the chest before the Orc's corpse had even hit the floor - it killed me instantly. Flippin Elves, this is the age of man dammit!

I have had some positive moments though. As my horse archer charachter I shot a horse out from underneath this rider at the very same time a skirmisher of Rohan flung a javelin it hit -and killed- him while he was falling of his horse in mid air. This sounds slightly worrying, but the trail of red mist that sprayed from his wound looked cinematic. Then there was the old stunt that probably every ones tried; the old leap of a high vertical cliff on to your enemy in the river below while swinging your weapon trick - I connected perfectly once but only for my horse to cave out because of the damage from the leap.
Another time I was a lancer and couched-damaged this Red Wolf Guard of his horse and the prince of Dol Amroth coming in the opposite direction killed him a second later with a lance as the rider was rising to his feet. Now thats teamwork.

Anyone else got any interesting tales?

i sometimes wish there were body parts...

also in TLD, my own patrol and a great Host of Gondor led by Orthalion were fighting a mordor host together, and we'd got a bit ahead of our knights and were fighting a crowd of orcs together.... he comes one way with a sword, i'm coming the other with my war axe.... pass each other, an orc between us, and if not for graphical limitations, were once was one orc there would have been 3... and just to make it that much better, we each swung the weapons back and killed 2 other orcs as we carried on... a moment made for the big screen lol

I've only played the demo, but anyways. I had the Battle soundtrack from Gladiator playing in the background while i was in a fairly large battle against a large band of bandit scum, and i only had a handful of followers, mostly peasants. In the start i ordered my men to hold positions while i rode forward to thin the enemy ranks. I used my sword to kill one or two before dozens of stones started bombarding me and my horse, so i withdrew back to my men.

Didn't take long before the bandits came charging in full force. I was running back and forth, hacking away at the poor bastards, yet there was no end to them. I then made the classical mistake of getting stuck. A second later i was flying of my horse and into the dirt. My followers could not reach me as half the bandit force turned to me. Without a second thought i picked up my gun, which i only had a few bullets for. I aimed and fired, one bandit yelled and fell down dead. Before they reached me, i managed to load and squeeze out another bullet which fell yet enemy.

I then drew my shiny longsword and yelled to the gods for aid as i charged the bandit scum, intent on slaying every single one!

Two seconds later i realised my followers were all dead and i was facing up to roughly fiftenn bandits. It was quite pleasant as the music was raging and my sword was slashing at the enemy. Took me two seconds before i was beaten to death by a shower of clubs xD

PS. Have the Gladiator battle soundtrack playing in the background, its awesome

I once got 10 headshots with a bow soloing a party of 15 bandits, that was sweet, 15 bandits lying on the floor, 10 of them with a single arrow sticking out of their head.

I took on a small pack of river pirates with practically no health -- river pirates I know -- but still... as a newb it was one of the moments that totally sold me on the game and drove me to buy it.

I must say it was very gratifying

I took on a band of 52 Skullcrusher bandits. They annihilated my men and took me prisoners. I kept fighting each time I got the chance without returning to a city wittling them down one by one.

Kind of stupid, I know, but these damn bastards killed my warhorse and I was not to let that stand.

So basically got beaten up by a bunch of bullies with clubs about 200 times till I managed to destroy them...

during a tournement match me and another lancer clash at eachother and my horse got crippled and he and his horse died. It was awesome. Couched lance is so effective.

yesterday i was playing around with javalin/axe skirmishing against a bunch of orcs. then they dehorsed me and i was facing 24 angry orc with no melee weapon. with some nice backpeddling i managed to leave 24 orc bodies riddled with spears and throwing axes on the battlefield. a couple of the bodies had 4 or 5 javalins in them and it looked sweet.

Recently I was facing some 20 mountain bandits alone as my companions and my army had been putout of commission by recent battles. I entered the scene of a lush green field with thick morning fog laying over the scenerey. It was reminiscent of Excalibur as I dashed into the fog singled out a single bandit, dashed out into the fog again and turnt around looking for new prey.
It was awesome atmosphere and to a degree felt believeable as the bandits scattered around finding the shadow that killed the guy next to them and disappeared into the mist.

edit: And I recently had some awesome lance attacks where I killed horse and rider in one attack. It was a great experience.

I fought some bandits (8 if I recall) and I charged each and every one of them, killing some of the dismounted ones in one hit. After avoiding the restarts caused by some sort of file corruption, I think I'll buy the full version.

Playing Liberty or Death I had a just been through several battles with a roving band of black knights, whittling my fine colonial army to pieces. Eventually it was just 6 black knights, 2 indian warriors vs me with very few hit points. after about five minutes of superb horse gunnery, I had taken all the knights but one. I shot his horse out from under him, rode atop a small hill, aimed, fired, dropped the fierce and deadly warrior, and got tomahawked in the back

I was in a rather fantastic high speed horse chase today. My spritied coursier against a warg rider of isengard. Chased him aacross the map many times while a furious battle occured around me. He spends his last arrow bringing down my horse, just as spend my last slaying his warg. As we both get up, 7 other fighting uruk hai ambush me. then all of a sudden, I was saved! a few rangers of ithilien were freed up behind them after their foes were slayed. They turned towards the 9 foes, and shot dead 4 before my shield broke. I quickly chopped down one more, and they charged into the fray, attracting the uruks attention. We crushed em handily. Then a stray arrow got me in the head and I died.

Headshot arrows suck, I remember once, playing Battle for Sicily, I got hit in the head with a javelin, it got stuck, the point protruding from the back of my characters head, but miraculously, I was still alive, looked odd, a guy who should've been dead riding around on a horse killing people.

Well that depends entirely on where in the head you were hit. If it's in the jaw region, yes it would be painful, but you can usually keep going on. If it hit steel, it might not have embedded itself far enough to cause true damage.

    use your imagination!

It went through his temple and out the back of his head, lethal hit, no way he could survive that.
