These are not your friendly neighborhood hooligans, a group of two or three adolescents causing inconveniences to passers-by.
The term "Hooligans" has now taken a more vicious turn as meaning highly numerous mobs of youth and men, roving the streets in Europe, looking for enemies to fight hand-to-hand. Usually these mobs center around soccer clubs, hundred-men armies invading the stadium of the opposing team to beat in that team's fans. These battles have become so vicious that police are considered incosequential for protecting the soccer players and their fans; soccer clubs in England, for example, are forced to hire (or sanction) the mob that fights for them, buy them tickets and carry them around in order to protect themselves from the enemy mob on the other side; or that when this soccer team travels to another town, its mob can beat down the fans watching the game.
Tens of thousands of these middle-age and youthful "hooligans" rove Europe, the phenomenon taking on catastophic proportions in England, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Holland, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, and other countires. English "hools" seem to be considered the most vicious of them all; their most hated rivals are Germans, and English 'hools' frequently invade Germany when their soccer teams travel there, to smash in heads of German fans. It is also a particular point of pride that no German 'hool' mobs have dared yet to invade England. Within England proper the hools hate their own neighboring cities - Liverpool frequently collects hundreds of men to smash in heads of fans of Everton and Manchester United; West Ham mobs send hundreds of youth and men to bash in fans of Arsenal.
Italy seems to show the most organized hools, who never invade other countries but always rally to fight off other invaders, most notably the English; Italian youth have well-working relationships with the soccer clubs they "fight for", and during actual soccer matches leaders of Italian hools usually promote festivities such as fireworks and all-around positive environment. Holland 'hools' bitterly despise Netherlands, and pursue any opportunity to bash in the face of those hated fans whenever they meet. Often battles end with bloodshed, vicious physical injury, and death. Soccer games have become so physically dangerous that normal fans often-times have no chance other than to support the vicious battles around them, and they take special pride in that as "fighting for their country" when they put a fist through the face of a soccer fan of a neighboring country. Or their fellow neighboring city.
Here is a friendly little tussle, by some good clean-cut Russian kids:
Good clean kids having some innocent fun after school:
Nine kids vs. thirteen. Which "team" will win? Exciting huh?
These are not exceptions, but repeated and catastrophic expressions of senseless violence, exploding in pockets throughout all of Europe, by men and youth stifled by their society into expressing this meaningless, mindless brutality.
And yet America is called the one who has all of its violence problems. Appalled and aghast at the psychology that erupts in violence of such scale, Americans are hypocritically looked down on for an isolated one or two incidents of one or two boys expressing their anger. The blaze socialist stifle of Europe, with its monumental national violence seething right beneath the polite surface, is stuffed down the throat as the best example of progressive, peaceful bliss.

Re: European hooligans
There are some problems with football hooligans in England but they are nowhere near as violent as you make them sound. Where are you getting all this stuff from?

I read newspaper articles. My friends and relatives in Europe are also sending me links, sometimes proudly displaying battles in which they took place. At times, out of bitter curiosity, I read interviews and take note of how frequently these people have their innocent little "matches", and how many take part on each side (in the hundreds).

Your info is out of date. football hooliganism was a problem in Britain in the Eighties, not anymore. However, my history teacher was arrested as a football hooligan
A american is complaining about voinlence in Europe, the irony
Violence is not a problem in Europe maybe before but not now
Last year a flare was thrown at a goalkeeper at an AC Milan game. A few months ago somebody fired a crossbow onto a pitch in Scotland. It has not been long since the Milwall riots.

I've found that hooliganism was on the rise in late '70s-early 80s, but went down considerably since then, until the nineties when it received a dramatic revival and been going up since then.
In any case, I've read an interview with a 35-year old English 'hool' who said it's never been as great as now, and links like the following, posted on Youtube and taken from cellphones, are hardly '80s:
The caption for this clip, taken from here, contains a warm and fuzzy message:
Hooligans from the world, and for all the yanks out there, f--- of you do`nt know what love for a team is.
Indeed, we certainly can't compete with them for a love of a team. Especially since we're so violent and they're so peaceful.

He taught me history at Turves Green Boys School, Birmingham
It added a whole new edge to not doing your homework

To be honest that looks like fun! Of course the results of such a fight can be horrifying but, I mean that's like marching to battle. Get you're adrenaline pumped up I guess. But stuff like this happens in the U.S., ever see the despicable Laker fans showing after they beat my Pacers in the finals? A huge riot.
I really can't believe we are still tainted with this brush. Yes we were bad and obviously we still have our problems (usually in Italy or Turkey) but a lot has been done since Heysel. We are still easily provoked but we are no worse than South America or Greece. Our "Bulldog" image still has negative overtones and its still sad. Even Millwall and Luton have toned down their battles. Saying all this there are still parts of the U.K than behave themselves when abroad. The Scots have always behaved very well when in Europe (Not in the Glasgow derbies though but there is a whole bigger picture)

I don't think you understand -- I have no problem with the British bulldog nation standing up for its interests and strongly asserting its national values, while internally possessing peace and valuing tranquility.
I do have a problem with the pansyfication of the British nation officially, via multiculturalism and political correctness, and the concomitant violence by stifled British men and youth helplessly exploding beneath the surface.

I do agree with you that we have had a problem with integration and our "Class" state has provided a powder-keg for the under-privileged to vent their frustrations but we do acknowledge these problems. But as the hard-core hooligans have becomed pitied and controlled their counter-parts Chav's and Bingers have taken their place. It is a sad part of our Society and something I doubt will ever go away but we are not the only country like this. Just watch the fireworks when the Netherlands and Germany meet in sporting circumstances .

You been living under a rock? Since when has the word hooligan ever meant
"These are not your friendly neighborhood hooligans, a group of two or three adolescents causing inconveniences to passers-by."
Past the year 1950?
I also love how you try to blame people being violent on a inanimate economic system
And it's mostly the clubs from Holland (Ajax, Feyenoord, ADO Den Haag) that fight EACH OTHER.
Anyways, Hooligans are a problem but they only fight amongst other hooligans and maybe against riot police.
Non-hooligans like me have nothing to fear.
Personally I don't give a damn if they kill each other, just as long as they clean up afterwards and don't damage public property.
Maybe having hooligans is actually a good thing, because if they can't vent their anger this way there is no knowing what they would do.
Hooliganism isnt by any means a recent phenomenon, at least in england, along with binge drinking and the rest. Around 1000AD some frankish monks commented that anglo saxons drank all day, and the state of affairs violence wise was very similar in the 18th century. Ditto in the 19th London had jack the ripper, now London has black kids stabbing each other. Its all completely natural and therefore unstoppable. Besides, I can personally vouch that 'Liverpool frequently collects hundreds of men to smash in heads of fans of Everton and Manchester United' never occurs, or at least hasnt in a few decades.
In the days of lace-ruffles, perukes, and brocade
Brown Bess was a partner whom none could despise -
An out-spoken, flinty-lipped, brazen-faced jade,
With a habit of looking men straight in the eyes -
At Blenheim and Ramillies, fops would confess
They were pierced to the heart by the charms of Brown Bess.

The Mersey Clubs have a heated rivalary but it's different to most derbies. As families in Liverpool usually contain members who support the opposite sides and their is no major violence (just a lot of mickey taking) . No segregation between Everton and Liverpool fans
SigniferOne, you should hang your head in shame and apologise for your opening post. It is ignorant, unadulterated bollox. Clearly, you have missed your calling in life: you should have been chief scare-monger at the Daily Mail
On second thoughts, if you were working for the daily mail then you would be living in England, so therefore you would actually know enough about the subject to know not to come out with such nonsense.
I realise that you have deliberately overstated what you have written to help ensure that a lot of people reply to it, but what you need to understand is that when you write things like that some people actually believe it.
Shame on you, SigniferOne, shame on you.
