Might as well.
"personally i think its a hoax".
No, the crazy and retarded people of the world was the ones who was always right?
Is there anyone more wise then me?
Aren't there other Mayan calendars that extend way beyond this point?
What if 20/12/2012 isn't a hoax?
Would the consequences be seen as fate?
Would we be prepared?
Would we survive the transition to the next age of Earth???
Unless we start launching nukes or have another mass world war, One does not simply end the world on December 21, 2012.
I thought Pra was back!

The Mayans are right, it is just a calendar.

I still don't understand why we trust the ramblings of a people who were still living in the Stone Age in 1500 A.D, and couldn't even hold up against the Aztecs let alone the Spanish. We might as well ask the Yoko-Moko headhunter tribe of New Guinea about how to fix the global economy.
Well for one, the only people "trusting" in "rambling" don't have a clue in the first place as to their real achievements. To their credit they were a highly advanced civilization, compare their classical period to parts of Europe after the Western Roman empire.
They had extremely complex and accurate systems of mathematics and astronomy. And they were unique in nature. Venus was more important to them than the Sun. And the sheer number of accurate observations they made is astounding, even by modern comparison.
They knew some shiz.
There are some crazy coincidences in the world ending 'theories' surrounding the Mayan calender. The most well known is typically called "galactic alignment" which is actually an alinement of our Sun and the center of the galaxy. It has earned that name after every nutter got hold of it. And it isn't possible.
The 'theory' was originally called "Dark Rift (Great Rift) Conjunction" and is actually backed up by some astronomers and archeologists as it is entirely possible (Ive never seen anyone weigh in on it officially as most people get bogged down with galactic alignment). It isn't an alignment of the Sun with the center of the galaxy, but an alignment with a particular part of the Great Rift that resembled a snake, to the Mayans. It also has some relationship to Venus which was the most important thing in the sky to the Mayans. So to them it was significant.
And while the calendar does turn over, it isn't like our calendar in that you wouldn't be able to tell the two apart. To the Mayans it meant a huge shift in life on the planet, but not an end. But it also might not be 'favorable' change, either.
Anyhow it starts to get a little more odd when you look at recent discoveries that would make the black hole at the center of our galaxy (which is apparently much larger and active than we though just 6 months ago) a possibly destructive entity to us on that date.
We always thought that the brightest and most destructive cosmic rays came from supernovas/hypernovas. But it would appear they come from black holes based on the latest discoveries just this year. And supported by discoveries going back 3-4 years.
We also know that they are far more common and widespread than we thought as very recent discoveries show that our moon is bombarded everyday.
And being hit wouldn't mean an immediate end of the world. But it would certainly change life on the planet.
So maybe this alignment of the Sun in relation to the Great Rift and the snake shape that the Mayans saw, and Venus (however that fits in) simply means that the portion of the Great Rift (just a bunch of clouds of dust and molecular gas) at that point would be at it's thinnest in terms of blocking radiation that Earth already receives from the galactic center. And if at that point the the black hole at the center of our galaxy decided to have a tantrum, or is always having one as the sheer amount of cosmic rays might suggest, we could be in for a bad day as it could chemically change the stratosphere and lead to general misery.
I'm sure nothing will happen. I'm not particularly worried. But the age of the Mayans isn't a reason not to take seriously what they saw as a point of great change. And there is an awful lot of talk about cosmic rays lately, that come from the galactic center.

I'm just continually amused at the fact that most, if not all, of the 2012 Apocalypse stuff emerged after the finale of X-Files.
DHS seems to be preparing for something big. Interesting to see what exactly
Iran's gonna have a nuclear exchange with Pakistan and then zombies will kill everyone not on a boat or a mountain.
