    Default marian reforms

according to the FAQ, to get the marian reforms, you have to accomplish all these things by the year 172, or you can conquer 90 settlements. my question is, if i go and conquer 90, lets just say, by the year 200 BC, would i get the reforms immediately? or would i still have to wait? i know this is a dumb question, but i had to ask it.

You'd have to wait until 172 BC.

darn. anyway to get it sooner, like going into the script and making it like 40 turns earlier?

Yes, if you know what you are doing, you can edit the requirements in the EBBS script.

EBBS stands for Europa Barbarorum Background Script. You can find it in the script folder in eb/data/

It has a contents list at the start of the file so its easy to find things.

No, because the EBBS is not saved with campaign files, it is entirely separate. But be warned it can look quite complex if you are not familiar with scripting, but with a little bit of common sense and some background in logic you'll be able to work it out.

EB reforms don't give messages. You just have to look for the reform marker in your cities.

    Messages are hard to mod.

It would be easy to make a message on a certain year for all factions, but to be more specific is hardcoded out.

wait- i remembered the message i got. it was "a march of time" what did it signify?
and why dont you make a message for all factions announcing that the reforms for the romans/barbarians/saka have arrived?

As Marcus said it is very difficult to mod messages.

The March of Time is the vanilla marian reforms which are used to trigger simple reforms for other factions.

The "March of Time" gives the Greeks new units, like the higher level Thor... units. It also gives the Romans a couple new boats.

Messages can be set to only one time, so if there was a messages about the reforms, it could easily be set to 172 for everyone. Though if you don't have a guy, haven't reached the requirements in 172, or the AI is in control of Rome (and they never seem to do well) then the message would be lying and would be even more confusing.

thanks guys. i altered the reform triggers and i got the marian reforms at around 221 BC... now im off to conquer the world!
but i have a question: i cant make the factional MIC's in every territory, mainly the ones which arent part of the romani victory conditions. does that have anything to do with it?

Hey, I have a problem regarding the marian reforms and thought rather than start a new topic I'd post here.
In my Roman campaign it's 167BC and I hold 91 settlements but I havn't had the reforms - no new MIC's and my cities are still producing polybian units. Do you have to have fully installed governments in all your cities (the newer conquests are still building type II's) or are the reforms meant to be instantaneous once you reach 90 settlements?
    Any help would be appreciated

I think it should come the next turn you conquer the 90th settlement. Did you activate the script?
