Good to hear, then it isnt that bad

But after playing some hours with aragon, I'm feeling what I thought before: It's the same like playing spain. Mostly they have the same units as spain. I'll do some researches in the internet to find some new interesting units for aragon. Oh and I have to say that aragon has the same flag as spain .

I have now fixed the EDB (export_description_buildings) and post it here. Some of the changes:

    - fixed some faults in the recruitment system of aragon
    - added the war galley to the ports of aragon (They haven't have a second early-period ship before like all factions)
    - added the dismounted kataphractoi to the recruitment tree of byzanz (Yes, you really have forgot to add this awesome unit to the campaign )

    Attachment 3773

And is it right that armored clergy are recruitable in the stables since they and the dismounted ones are also available in the churches?

Hi I'm new here and after playing the Road to Jerusalem MOD v2.2 I started to like this MOD, and now I thought, let's help them out a bit.

I started the campaign as Saxons. I took a rebel settlement but when I attacked a settlement with Dismounted Mailed Knights and Norse Swordsmen I noticed something weird. The Welsh Rebels Peasants killed my Dismounted Mailed Knights (DMKs) while the DMKs were fighting them on the walls (it was a one group vs a one group battle, so 113 Peasants vs 70 DMKs or something).

Also, when I put three DMK units on the walls it looked like 140 knights couldn't fit between two towers. The units ran like the game was in 8x time compression up and down the wall between two towers. It really looked stupid. Then, the Welsh Rebels came with one group of Spear Militia and after a VERY long time (and after giving the attack command to the DMKs some hundred times) THEY KILLED THE DMKs, ALL OF THEM So 113 spear militia units killed some 140 DMKs...

Also, you have to tell your soldiers to attack an enemy force that is attacking them unless they just let themselves be killed without fighting back. Sometimes units in the same group attack eachother (Norse swordsmen).

I dont know about peasants but spear units are very strong on walls, so you better attack with your knights the gate. I noticed some strange behavior on walls too, but I cant change it.

why English successor have gone to the younger brother, in your beta, faces of the english prince have swapped and crown prince has gone to new "Rufus" with "Robert" face and age 19.

Please check again or do you have any idea about this.

Anyway, thanks for your devotion for this mod, I appreciated so much.

Because Robert was the first son and so was older than Rufus. CA chose easyness, I chose accuracy. C'mon, you're not going to cry for a simple face ... randomly chosen by the game by the way

I found some (i think) new bugs or things, wich look bad...:

    1. Normally if Units went through another Unit the troops in this unit went away and the unit can pass. Now I fought a battle (the first) with Beta 2 and the troops stayed in their rows. The effect was, the the troops of the other aren't able to pass until I moved the blocking unit away. I moved Mercanery Crossbowman through Mercanery Spearman.

    2. Bilmen have wrong animations. They slay with their spears. This would be okay if they would use a halberd.

Just a minor bug, but when Aragon troops are "Broken", their banner doesn't flash white nor does it go red when "Fighting to the death"

oh ! I got it ! Thanks for your reply, I also love the accurate approach too.

    i found this

    WILLIAM I 'THE CONQUEROR' (r. 1066-1087)

"... William spent the last months of his reign in Normandy, fighting a counter-offensive in the French Vexin territory against King Philip's annexation of outlying Normandy territory. Before his death on 9 September 1087, William divided his 'Anglo-Norman' state between his sons. The scene was set for centuries of expensive commitments by successive English monarchs to defend their inherited territories in France.

William bequeathed Normandy as he had promised to his eldest son Robert, despite their bitter differences (Robert had sided with his father's enemies in Normandy, and even wounded and defeated his father in a battle there in 1079). His son, William Rufus, was to succeed William as King of England, and the third remaining son, Henry, was left 5,000 pounds in silver."

Noticed only 1 probem so far (playing as Denmark). The 'Faction Leader' trait does not give the +2 Authority listed. Tested it as as England and the Saxons as well and its the same for them. They do get increases inauthority from other traits (e.g. marks of war)

    Superb mod btw

Akimov > thanks, it's a known bug from BBB, it'd be fixed quickly

Desperado > I tried to have this historical approach with each royal family ingame, even if sometimes I had to make some choices and cheat a little with dates, etc. But I tried to do something accurate, that's why the english family has changed.

Huge lag during sieges. Archer not firing from the walls when enemy close, but still able to fire when given order than stop once more, AI sieges terrible, better autoresolve. If attacked by 2 armies one attacks while the other is idle.

this is because of Rammstein's version of the game (german). His audio files are not the same. Copy the events.dat and events.idx from the vanilla sounds folder (in data) to the RTJ sounds folder (delete the old ones) and it should be okay

Problems and Praises I've noticed so far (after playing for 3 hours).

    1) Dismounted Feudal Knights, when hiding have their legs go through their armour

    Shot at 2007-07-07

    2) Saxons don't have shield wall (when they are famous for it) for any units
    3) Battles feel great after the Faster Battle Patch, they feel perfect - not too long, nor too short
    4) Since the game starts in 1067 I like that the Byzantine Empire has more land since it now starts before the Battle of Manzikert
    5) Having the big Turkish army and Byzantine army close together like that almost guarantees a ensuing battle, which would mimic Manzikert, that's cool
    6) Scotland uses English Voices on Campaign map (unknown if in battle map too)
    7) In my case when I attacked the Saxons on the Campaign map for the first time. My favour with the Papal States diminished which doesn't make sense because the Norman invasion of England was blessed by the Pope.
    8) If there is a way to make the Saxons and England at war with eachother from the start of the game, that would make more sense
    9) When you march a line of soliders through a line of archers, the archers get stuck and get pushed forward with the infantry, the don't pass through like they should. This makes archers get stuck in melee sometimes.
    10) When you play as Aragon, you get the Spainish shield for the UI on the campaign map
    11) some Saxon banners are always white instead of the actual banner they should be

I will add more should I see anything else. So far this Mod is amazing.

I agree with silent hunter, there seems to be so many discrepancies in this mod. I know it is not easy doing a mod and I hope they will work out all the niggling problems. You should not be able to recruit Normans from Spain.
But I want also to say that what you have done is still very good work. I am sure with a little more time you "the modders” will get there. You just have to look at the mods that came out for RTW! It took a long time before any real decent mod was worth playing. SPQR being my all time favourite.

Ok, thanks. That makes sence. I noticed it on a couple other factions too. Thanks for the simple fix Valor.

For 1) Im not sure Rammstein can do something for this. Agree for 2) they should indeed use a lot the shieldwall. For 3) we still need more feedback to know if it's fine or not. Now for 4) and 5) this is an idea I had to make the game more historical, however it makes the Byzantines very strong ... for 6) you should check the answer I gave to Rugin84 in this topic. Not sure how to do for 7) maybe Rammstein will know however, for 8) the issue is that factions at war since the begininng tend to fight between them without taking care of rebels and so trying to become stronger by destroying them. We know for 9) it may be related to Darth's mod and yes it's annoying. Aragon isnt finished yet (10) and same for Saxons (11)
