INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS FOR 77 BC 1.2. mod_switch version

1. Download 77 BC

2. To begin, you need a unmodded (vanilla) RTW game with BI patched to 1.6.

3. When you have finished downloading, run the installer. It will ask you where to install 77 BC. Browse and lead the installer to your unmodded (vanilla) RTW folder. The most common paths are:

C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\RTW

or

C:\Program Files\Activision\RTW

You do not need to create any 77 BC folder. The installer will do it. It will not touch any of your RTW files either. All the mod will be located in a 77bc folder.

You do not need RTR any longer. This mod is stand-alone.

After the process is over, this is how my RTW folder looks like:



As you can see, besides 77 BC I have other folders for other mods that also run with mod_switch, like TFT and RTR Platinum.

4. Now create a shortcut to the RTW - BI.exe file that is in the RTW folder where you have installed 77 BC.

5. Click on "properties" of the shortcut and add the following lines at the end of the target line:

-mod:77bc -nm -show_err

Again, this is how the shortcut looks in my install:

installed and added lines correctly
but when i click on play 77bc campaign it says please select item from list
how 2 fix this?

Cherryfunk, you do not need the previous version. Just RTW and BI vanilla, patched to 1.5. and 1.6. respectively. You can delete the previous 77bc folder.

CelphTitled, you would be amazed at how much time I spent with my computer with the stupid "select an item from the list" message. Somehow, I thought that my RTW Gold pack was patched by default to 1.6.

Holy crap what? Thanks for the complement, though I surely do not deserve it.

I am thoroughly impressed with the high level of quality in... everything so far!

I have found a bug I guess.

When I select an army/diplomat etc on the world map the blue "movement remaining" bar on the far left hand side extends all the way up to the top of my screen.

Also, though it is of little importance and easy to ignore, some of the units make no response upon selection on the battlemap.

Where should I really be posting bugs btw?

Hmmmmm....... for some reason it won't allow me to add -mod:77bc -nm -show_err at the end of the target line. Any help/explanation?

A very stupid question: have you created a shortcut to the RTW - BI.exe file and are you adding the text to the shortcut target?

A not so stupid suggestion: give a look, in the properties of the shortcut, to the "general" folder and check that the "read-only" atribute is not selected. I will try to illustrate it with my shortcut, as translating windows options is really difficult:

Yeh i have done all that but it says that the info i have put in the target box is invalid make sure that the path and file name is correct. sorry im kinda a noob at this

maybe you have installed RTW to a different path rather than the usual C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome Total War

please tell us the path to your rome total war folder and we will write down the line that should be in your shortcut to rometw-bi.exe file.

Yup I had the same problem when I first installed the Mod following the path F:\77 V 2. I simply renamed the folder RTW and added the string to the new path F:\RTW\RomeTW-BI.exe -mod:77bc -nm -show_err and it worked

well.. then in your "Target" attribute in the shortcut should read:

"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:77bc -nm -show_err

just like that, with the two " .
