Thread: Medieval II Computer & Hardware Recommendations

Thanks for that irishron I'll give that ago. Implemented FactionHeirs tutorial about removing ambient effects this afternoon which works. So was thinking about if i changed the size of the textures myself...so its saved me some work. lol

Edit: Been playing so far with those two changes this evening and I've noticed a small but noticeable improvement which is good.

Also looked at the cpu list of my Socket A m/board and I can go upto 3200 Athlon or 3000 Sempron if I can find one. So good news there. My RAM is under clocked at the moment for the present cpu I'm using. Which I know is compatible with the faster bus speed needed by using a faster processor. Looking on Ebay for quick idea on prices it makes sense to go for that option giving me some more grunt rather than a relatively newer but out dated AGP graphics card.

FactionHeir's is good, too. I haven't been to the Org in a long while, though.

It will play it but it will be with small unit sizes, no eyecandy, no battles, and get ready for ctds.

    Neither. No dedicated graphics card.

None. Same problem. No dedicated graphics card. This game is too old to recognize and use shared memory.

The one you already have. The Z1600 might do it but it's really not an upgrade in performance from the 4500MHD.

bit of both, the games i would play would pretty much be this one, mainly with dominon of the sword, nothing newer,
also i looked at the graphics cards you mentioned but i couldnt find any laptops under the $250(aus)/240(us) budget on ebay

You won't find one in your price range. Save your money and get a better one later would be my advice.

    Here's how:

DxDiag is easy to run if you have any knowledge of Windows. Go to the "Start" button and in that menu choose "Run Program" option ("Run..." in Vista IIRC). In the pop-up field type "dxdiag" and press enter. This is the DirectX test program - let it finish the test. After the test is finished choose the button toward the bottom labeled "Save All Information..." and save it to your desktop. Next open up this forum and post the results by copying and pasting directly to the forum. Please don't post attachments as they take up more space and time - just copy and paste. Please post ALL info and if you can please wrap it in a spoiler tag to minimize page size.

    Good luck!
