    Mediterranean Levies

    {levy_md_light_spearmen}Levy Mediterranean light spearmen
{levy_md_light_spearmen_descr}Levied from the poorest class of men who can hardly afford food let alone weapons, these soldiers have little to brag. Their situation in the army may just be better as they are given food, and some armor. Useful in large numbers for bringing down mêlée cavalry and to bulk up armies, but little else.
{levy_md_light_spearmen_descr_short} Weak soldiers armed with spears, protected by a shield and some amour.
    {levy_md_spearmen}Levy Mediterranean spearmen
{levy_md_spearmen_descr}As these men can at least show pride at the head of an army, they can put up somewhat of a fight. These are heavier spearmen who still lack largely as an army so should not be relied upon. Armed with the appropriate equipment to bring down cavalry in an extended mêlée.
{levy_md_spearmen_descr_short}Heavier than light spearmen, but still levies. Armed with spears to stab down cavalry.
    {levy_md_light_archers}Levy Mediterranean light archers
{levy_md_light_archers_descr}Hailing from the hills of Anatolia, these archers have some skill from hunting the native beasts. Though they have had practice since they were boys, but did they every dream they would use their bows against men? These men will be terrified from an approaching enemy and rout in a mêlée. Best used for defending city walls.
{levy_md_light_archers_descr_short}Archers with poor bows, but familiar with archery. Poor morale.
    {levy_md_archers}Levy Mediterranean archers
{levy_md_archers_descr}Beginning in lowly origins, these levies have rose to the soldier class with the help of accurate archery skills. Levy archers have a European style iron helmet and an improved, sturdy bow. They hope to overwhelm an enemy with well aimed volleys before they draw in too close. These men excel at defending the frontiers of newly conquered regions, but hope to the Lord they don’t see cavalry.
{levy_md_archers_descr_short}Archers with a sturdy bow that can harass infantry, but get slaughtered by cavalry.
    {levy_md_axemen}Levy Mediterranean axemen
{levy_md_axemen_descr}This levy unit comes from the class of merchants and city commoners; able to afford additional armor. For levies, they are proud soldiers. They carry a Venetian style war hammer influenced by frequent trading in the Mediterranean. Eager and capable, these men are best used to assault enemy ranks.
{levy_md_axemen_descr_short}Able to afford good amour and using a Venetian influenced war hammer, these are capable assault infantry.
    {levy_md_crossbowmen}Levy Mediterranean axemen
{levy_md_crossbowmen_descr}Starting with the Crusades, a whole new world of trading was opened to the Italian states of Genoa and Venice. These Italian emigraters brought with them their weapon of choice, the crossbow. Consisting of the merchants themselves and men who could afford the new weapon this levy is drawn from the “gentlemen” class. They still have to be burley men to carry the heavy European crossbow and armor. Approaching infantry will be faced with many devastating iron bolts. If the enemy draws closer these men will wield their swords.
{levy_md_crossbow_descr_short}Influenced by trade, the Italian crossbow was introduced to the Eastern Mediterranean. Enemy infantry will be worn down by its many armor piercing bolts.

Svans the skillful hunters and pathfinders, from the earliest times they composed the impact force of the armies of Colchis, then Lazika-Egrisi and united Georgia. When there is no war, Svans frequently quarrel between themselves, blood vengeance as before acts among the snow-covered mountains of Svaneti. But sometimes Svans forget their quarrels. Indian Levies

    {levy_in_light_spearmen}Levy Indian light spearmen
{levy_in_light_spearmen_descr}The conquering masters of Indian lands, usually Islamic, commonly levy the lower classes into their armies. Regardless if the rulers are Rajput or not, this is more of a collection of men, than an army. Despite their complete lack of armor, these men have a sturdy shield and an iron tipped spear to put up some sort of defense against cavalry. Only a foolish master would put these men in a standing army.
{levy_in_light_spearmen_descr_short}Lacking in any armor, these spearmen should only be used for defense in cities or to attack cavalry; not as a standing force.
    {levy_in_spearmen}Levy Indian spearmen
{levy_in_spearmen_descr}This unit consists mostly of loyal peasant farmers who desire to protect their families, and homes while serving. When under the reign of Hindu ruler or not, these soldiers try to make best of their situation by arming themselves better than the light spearmen and fighting courageously. They carry the Rajput banner of the sun, an important family image. Can be effective against cavalry in appropriate numbers but might flee under overwhelming missile fire.
{levy_in_spearmen_descr_short} Loyal to their families and to defending their homes, these soldiers fight with spirit. Effective defensively, or versus cavalry but cannot stand under overwhelming missiles.
    {levy_in_light_archers}Levy Indian light archers
{levy_in_light_archers_descr}These are young men adept to hunting wild beasts in the Indian countryside, and are only comfortable using their own bows. They use hunting bows, not recurve bows, so the penetration power is very limited. Foes with no shield or have their backs to these archers will surely suffer though. They pray to the mighty war God Kartikeya that they are not engaged by enemy horsemen .
{levy_in_light_archers_descr_short} Using their own hunting bows, these young men are only effective against light enemies.

    {levy_in_archers}Levy Indian Longbowmen
{levy_in_archers_descr}The Indian longbow was said to be just as tall as the person wielding it, and one can only imagine the power a bow of that magnitude created. Consisting of exceptionally strong Rajput men, these are valuable and preferred levies of all rulers. The sheer power of these bows is enough to knock a man of his feet and pierce impressive armors. Renowned for their strength, accuracy, and superior bows; most enemies choose not to do battle with these men, if they get the choice.
{levy_in_archers_descr_short}Amazingly powerful and armor-piercing bowmen; highly valued levies.
    {levy_in_javelinmen}Levy Indian javelinmen
{levy_in_javelinmen_descr}The javelin is the ideal infantry weapon. It is light, easily able to be carried on marches, and can inflict painful casualties. It is usually considered a poor man’s weapon, but that is no reason to underestimate its strength in numbers. Rajput levies with enough brawn can hurl javelins powerfully enough to disrupt enemy ranks and marches. They try to keep a keen eye for cavalry, or else be slaughtered by a surprise enemy flanking move.
{levy_in_javelinmen_descr_short}Light and mobile, the javelin is an ideal infantry weapon. These men can disrupt enemy’s ranks efficiently, but fear cavalry flanks.
    {levy_in_axemen}Levy Indian axemen
{levy_in_axemen_descr}Levy axemen are a conquering Lord’s or ruling Rajput’s reliable friend on the battlefield. They are not lowly peasants, but rather well-off commoners with a thirst for war. Slashing and hacking their way through enemy spearmen, these levies make way for the flanking cavalry to come around and finish the enemy.
{levy_in_axemen_descr_short}Reliable commoner infantry who excel against spearmen.
    {levy_in_swordsmen}Levy Indian swordsmen
{levy_in_swordsmen_descr}Rajput swordsmen carry the double edged scimitar (known as the Khanda) into battle. Rarely are upper class men forced or even willing to join a basic swordsmen unit, but this is the exception. These soldiers slash with their exceptionally sharp swords to wreak havoc in the ranks of lesser armed spearmen. They can also hold their ground against other heavily armed and armored foes. Quality levy infantry is rarely recruited so wise rulers will take advantage of the access to good soldiers.
{levy_in_swordsmen_descr_short}Quality levy infantry with sharp scimitars. They can wreak havoc in enemy spearmen ranks, but are vulnerable to a cavalry charge.

    {ghulams_elite}Elite Ghulam lancers
{ghulams_elite_descr}These elite and experienced troops are formed when there is a urgency to march them to the frontline. Normally use as a reserve, their devastating charge is feared by all enemy.
{ghulams_elite_descr_short}The elite lancers came from the best cavalrymen in the region.
    {ghulams_heavy}Senior Ghulam lancers
{ghulams_heavy_descr}Ghulam lancer are the similar to the Western lancer which use their charge to decimate their enemy. These hand pick warriors are the most senior among the cavalry division. Their experience combined with devastating equipment means that it is a efficient tool in Ghulam disposal.
{ghulams_heavy_descr_short}Senior lancer are compose of the most experienced men.
    {ghulam_heavy_archer}Ghazni Ghulam heavy archers
{ghulam_heavy_archer_descr}Archers are normally use as a hunting tool in the desert region but the far range meant that it can be use to harass enemy when the time comes. Equiped with the best armour around, these troops can take heavybeating before going down and attack with short-short effectively when charge upon.

Most of the Rajput Roster, hopes this helps...
    {rajput_elephant_archers}Rajput elephant archers
{rajput_elephant_archers_descr}As if the mere sight of an elephant wasn’t fearsome enough, their presence now will churn the stomachs of more warriors. Heavy amour and a band of missile soldiers protect the beast, while a manhout tamer guides the animal. The wealth of Indian rulers was measured by the amount of elephants they own, unsurprisingly. These fearsome beasts are bound to wreak utter confusion and astonishment to foreign enemies who have never laid eyes on such an animal. Terrorize the battlefield with a coordinated stampede or harass with the mounted archers.
{rajput_elephant_archers_descr_short} Bound to wreak utter confusion and astonishment to foreign enemies, has 3 mounted archers and can stampede charge.
    {rajput_elephant_javelins}Rajput elephant javelins

    {rajput_axemen_cavalry}Rajput axemen cavalry
{rajput_axemen_cavalry_descr}These men are not peasants as they are able to afford a steed, but wielding of an axe implies that they could not afford a sword. These men keep their round shield covering their bodies to block arrow volleys while maneuvering. Armed by these strong men, axes can deal many one-hit blows to unsuspecting enemies. Having a lack of armor does not seem to stop these men much from making selfless charges on the battlefield. Perhaps they wish to wield a sword, in the next life.
{rajput_axemen_cavalry_descr_short}Selfless men armed with round shields and axes to deliver critical blows to enemy foot soldiers.
    {rajput_javelinmen_cavalry}Rajput javelin cavalry
{rajput_javelinmen_cavalry_descr}Rajput cavalry were respected by their enemies, and allies, for their incredible speed. Unlike neighboring Muslim states that used the heavy Ghulams, many men abandoned their armor completely in favor of swiftness on the battlefield. These are undisciplined, free men who lack uniform and organization, but have similar shields and javelins. They are best used to pepper enemy cavalry who will be frustrated trying catch up to them.
{rajput_javelinmen_cavalry_descr_short}Speedy cavalry with no armor that can pepper enemy cavalry with sharp javelins.
    {rajput_dismounted_noble_swordsmen}Dismounted noble swordsmen
{rajput_dismounted_noble_swordsmen_descr}A sword has always represented a man of value in Indian society. These men have dismounted to fight in this particular battle. Lacking a steed, this man himself is now vulnerable to the feared charges the infantry face. High on the caste system with freshly hammered expensive armor, these soldiers are not afraid to somewhat risk themselves to bring much agony to the enemy infantry.
{rajput_dismounted_noble_swordsmen_descr_short}Vulnerable to charges but dangerous noble infantry with expensive armor.
    {rajput_noble_cavalry}Noble cavalry
{rajput_noble_cavalry_descr}The Rajputs were not noted for heavy cavalry themselves, but eventually adopted their tactics after a strategic defeat. In this battle, Muhammad of Ghor had broken a promise of truce to the Rajputs and sallied out to attack them early in the morning. The rallying Rajputs beat back Muhammad’s wave of mounted archers. Later, Muhammad’s heavy horsemen charged the Rajput infantry which broke ranks and the whole army fled. These men wear heavy leg plates and mail armor with a mighty lance to deliver the same fate to their enemies.
{rajput_noble_cavalry_descr_short}After a strategic defeat, the Rajputs adopted heavy cavalry tactics. They carry a mighty lance and impressive armor to devastate swordsmen.

EDIT By AD: Units with jerusalem_ prefix are the old Kingdom of Jerusalem units and are no longer used.. The koj_ prefix units are the new ones however it's likely we'll use the desriptions from the KoJ preview for these units. Thanks

Some KoJ roster. I know you said to do 5 but I can't find the other units in this thread.

    Code:
    {jerusalem_spearmen}Latin spearmen
{jerusalem_spearmen_descr}Since embarking on a Crusade was a costly business, most soldiers could afford heavier protection than their counterparts in Europe. Composed mostly of crusading pilgrims, settled Latins, and indigenous Eastern Christians, these troops offer staunch resistance to any who would retake Jerusalem, but should not be overly relied on in battle.

Default Re: Unit descriptions - Your chance to help

EDIT By AD: Haqiq, I'm going to suggest that you take some time to correct these before moving on. These descriptions are not only full of basic English errors, they are also full of historically in-accurate information (ghazni heavy archers with longbows?? Junior ghulams being Amateur cavalry??). As these are hugely important units I would rather someone with a greater knowledge of Ghulam history give them a working over.

Done all the stuff with ghulams. Thanks AdmiringtheEnemyeh? for correcting my grammar. I will do ghazi stuff by tommorow or so.

    {ghulams_elite}Elite Ghulam lancers
{ghulams_elite_descr} These elite and experienced troops are formed when there is an urgency to march them to the frontline. Compose of slave from Turkic, Slavs and Indians, they are normally use as a reserve. Being a veteran in the previous battle, every enemy know that even marching up to them will be the last thing they will ever remember…

Already proven themselves to be a horse-rider, they now are better off with heavier armour and better sword. This mean that they have the ability to shock the opposing infantry with fear which will make most of them will flee with deep regret attacking them.
{ghulam_medium_cavalry_descr_short}Medium cavalry which is great for harassing enemy formation.
    {ghulam_medium_ha}Medium Ghulam horse archers

{ghulam_junior_cavalry_descr}They came from all background and throughout the continent so that they can protect the kingdom that conquered their kingdom. Ready to be proven themselves with horses, these young adult rode the horse tirelessly in the battlefield. Their eagerness can sometimes backfire if use without caution.
{ghulam_junior_cavalry_descr_short}Amateur cavalry that only equip with basic weaponry.
    {ghulam_junior_ha}Junior Ghulam horse archers
{ghulam_junior_ha_descr}Most of their warriors are already trained with the art of archery before sending them to battle. With only few practices and little equipment, these young people march from city to city ready to strike fear among the enemy even if they are over-numbered.

    {ghulam_spearmen}Ghazni Ghulam spearmen
{ghulam_spearmen_descr}They came from all the cities the Sultan have conquered. Leaving their country as slave, they quickly join the rank as a solider so they could prove themselves worthy to the Sultan. Being one of the lowest rank in the Ghulam division, they are only equip with the basic armour and shield one could find. But their weak armour are compensated by the long pointy spear to defend themselves effectively from horses and light infantry.

Alpha Delta, Mirage told me that the ME tier 5 Axemen are being dumped because the skin is being used for ghazi jihad unit, correct? That’s why I didn’t do them.

    Middle Eastern Levies

    {levy_me_light_spearmen}Levy Middle Eastern light spearmen
{levy_me_light_spearmen_descr}These are the slaves of wealthy plantation owners, and used by the ruling state for a quick but pitiful defense against invaders. The plantation owner does not speak up in fear of upsetting an angry ruler. Armed with crude spears and no armor, they stand no chance against the heavily armored infidels they may face.
{levy_me_light_spearmen_descr_short}Poor Muslim men forced from their plantations, they have little inspiration to fight. They are poorly armored with only a small spear to fight.
    {levy_me_spearmen}Levy Middle Eastern spearmen
{levy_me_spearmen_descr}Though faithful men and devout followers of Muhammad, peace be with him, they would rather tend to their farms then be forced to fight. Taken from their dwellings by a personal guard to the nearest city, they doubt they will ever see their farms or families again. Owning some land in the Fertile Crescent means they could also afford some individual armor. Hardy men accustomed to deserts and heat, can thrust their spears into cavalry efficiently.
{levy_me_spearmen_descr_short}Levies forced off their property to fight, but allowed to buy armor for themselves. Good against cavalry.
    {levy_me_light_archers}Levy Middle Eastern light archers
{levy_me_light_archers_descr}Some of these men have never even seen a bow before they were forced into the army. If they are lucky, they receive some time to familiarize themselves with their weapon. If a Sultan or King makes it urgent they are recruited fast, they are sent into a campaign with no training. They will learn, or die shamefully. Allah be merciful if these soldiers are ambushed by light horsemen.
{levy_me_light_archers_descr_short}Lacking in any armor, and lucky if they receive any training, these archers are not very useful.
    {levy_me_archers}Levy Middle Eastern archers
{levy_me_archers_descr}Differing to light archers, these soldiers have had previous experience with archery and do receive additional training. They are good, landowning men and followers of Allah and his prophet who regularly pray in a Mosque. Showing respect for their faithfulness, the ruling master of these lands has allowed these men to purchase armor and possibly be granted early retirement from the army . Can harass and frustrate approaching infantry.
{levy_me_archers_descr_short}Good, faithful, landowning men. Have purchased armor and have previous archery experience. Good at harrasing approaching infantry.

This going to be the last time I did the desc. I don't really know much so I apologize. I just thought that if I help out (with my nooby skill) this leet mod could get out faster. Anyway, thanks.

Historically, most of the ghazi appeared in Saminid period and up to 20,00 ghazi took part in Indian campaign lead by Mahmud of Ghazni
{ghazi_medium_descr_short}Veteran ghazi which is better equip than light ghazi.
    {ghazi_heavy}Ghazi axemen

Although it look harmless, a hack from an axe will cause the enemy to paralyse and even instant death.Living as a ghazi for many years mean that they are well organize in a corporation (or condottiere). Historically, the veteran warrior will gain rank;some of whom would ultimate rise to military and later political dominance in various Muslim states.

Most of the Kypchak Roster. Will finish the rest tomorow. Hope this helps.

    {kypchak_dismounted_medium_lancers}Kypchak dismounted lancers
{kypchak_dismounted_medium_lancers_descr} A man of the steppes was rarely willing to descend from his horse, his loyal battle companion. When the need for infantry arose, a unit of horsemen would dismount and rely on their mobile brothers to fill the role of light cavalry. These men don’t take kindly to any enemy who thinks they have the audacity to defy them.
{kypchak_dismounted_medium_lancers_descr_short}When there the need for infantry arises, these men dismount their steeds to take the call.
    {kypchak_medium_lancers}Kypchak lancers
{kypchak_medium_lancers_descr}These nomads have traded their plunder and earnings for more suitable cavalry equipment. Mostly likely these men have bought their lances and lamellar armor from Slavic merchants in the great trading towns of the Rus’. Keeping light and maneuverable on the battlefield means these soldiers can deliver a pounding charge where the enemy doesn’t except it.
{kypchak_medium_lancers_descr_short}Finally able to afford good weapons, but still keeping light, these soldiers can deliver a surprising punch to enemy troops.
    {kypchak_medium_bowman}Kypchak archers
{kypchak_medium_bowman_descr}Devout pagans, these men don’t take kindly to Christians and Muslims who would dwell on their lands. They know how to use their powerful bows dismounted as they have trained in sport since boyhood. Can stay out of an enemy’s sight well, but will welcome a good mêlée if the enemy comes too close.

    {kypchak_medium_horse_archer}Kypchak horse archers
{kypchak_medium_horse_archer_descr}Traditional troops who form the basis of all steppe warfare. Since the time of the Scythians, hit and run tactics have been widely used. They continue to play a huge role on the field of battle, affecting invaders and native defenders alike. Armed with a regular bow, their tactics frustrate and disrupt the enemy.

{kypchak_heavy_lancers_descr}As nobles, these men have had their servants do the cooking and horse tending, but the great honor fighting will belong to themselves. They were born to fight and battle, like all the men of the steppes. Some of these men are nomads from the northern Rus’ and have a Viking heritage. Carrying a heavy spear, they mercilessly ram their way through swordsmen and pull out only to repeat again. Despite their effectiveness, beware of their lack of discipline.

I've done the slavs for the Kypchaks to round out admiringtheenemyeh's stuff, and the ghorid ghazi units, hope you like.

    {kypchak_slavs_swordsmen}Slavic swordsmen
{kypchak_slavs_swordsmen_descr}In the wilderness of the steppes, many men bow to the servants of the Sky God. The Kypchak tribes have never disdained from utilizing conquered foes, and Slavic warriors are among the best examples. Well armored and wielding a longsword, these warriors will put up a fierce fight against all but the heaviest of foes.
{kypchak_slavs_swordsmen_descr_short}Well armored medium infantry, armed with sword and shield.
    {kypchak_slavs_spearmen}Slavic spearmen
{kypchak_slavs_spearmen_descr} In the wild steppes of Russia, many men bow to the servants of the Sky God. The Kypchak tribes have often raised levies of conquered people, and the subjected Slavic tribes make excellent soldiers. Well armored with mail and carrying a large round shield, these spearmen are more than a match for many of the lancers found on the steppe.
{kypchak_slavs_spearmen_descr_short}Competent armored spearmen capable of holding a battle line.
    {kypchak_slavs_cavalry}Slavic cavalry
{kypchak_slavs_cavalry_descr}While not being as skilled riders as their Kypchak rulers, these Slavic horsemen are far from inferior. Often comprised of the Druzhina of a minor chief, Slav cavalry are efficient warriors able to endure a prolonged melee.
{kypchak_slavs_cavalry_descr_short}Medium cavalry, well suited for hand to hand combat.

    {ghazi_light}Ghazi fanatics
{ghazi_light_descr}The life of a Ghazi is tempting to many. Glory, adventure, plunder, and a place in heaven are all incentives to escape the mundane life of the peasantry and spread the word of Islam. Armed only with an axe and small shield, Ghazi fanatics rush into combat, heedless of danger. They are an undisciplined and poorly equipped force, but enterprising commanders can take advantage of their large numbers and fearless attitude.
{ghazi_light_descr_short}Fierce and cheap light infantry dedicated to the expansion of Islam.
    {ghazi_medium}Ghazi warriors
{ghazi_medium_descr}Comprised of richer tribesmen and Ghazi who have accumulated wealth, these warriors are no less fanatical then their poorer brethren. Wearing sturdy lamellar armor, Ghazi warriors are able to hold their own against most formal military units and tribal levies.
{ghazi_medium_descr_short}Armored swordsmen that fight with unmatched zeal and ferocity.
    {ghazi_heavy}Ghazi axemen
{ghazi_heavy_descr}Well armored and wielding a large two-handed axe, Ghazi Tabardiyyah would be a terrible foe even without their infamous fanaticism. The enemies of Islam have much to fear in these shock infantrymen, whose only goal is to purge nonbelievers; and perhaps gain a little loot for themselves.
{ghazi_heavy_descr_short}Heavy and fanatical axemen, able to crush other armored infantry.

EDIT BY AD: Daylami are from northern Iran and not Afghanistan. Daylami units wont be recruitable in Afghanistan on our map.

Edit by T.F.P Whoops, my bad on that, does that mean that half of the ghaznavid roster is not recruitable in their starting position?

Sorry for the double post, but here are some daylami and khorasani units, will do more of the ghaznavid tomorrow.

    {daylami_tribal_spearmen}Khorasani light spearmen
{daylami_tribal_spearmen_descr}The hilly lands of northern Afghanistan have always been a troublesome spot; the people fierce and independent, the land ideal for ambush. Conquerors come and go, but the people of this region maintain their unique culture and ways of war. Constantly raiding the surrounding lands, afghan tribes are often placated by terms of service in foreign armies. Poorer tribesmen go to war wielding the shield and spear. Normally their lack of armor would be a hindrance, but in the narrow mountain valleys of their homelands the mobility it affords them is crucial.
{daylami_tribal_spearmen_descr_short} Lightly armored spearmen well suited for hilly terrain.
    {daylami_spearmen}Khorasani heavy spearmen
{daylami_spearmen_descr}Gold flows as rivers in the great cities of Khorasan. In Herat, Merv, Ghazni, and Nishapur, rich merchants and officials often raise retinues of bodyguards to protect their homes and lives. During times of war these men march to battle with their masters and make a potent force of well trained and equipped spearmen.
{daylami_spearmen_descr_short}Heavily armored spearmen raised from rich city dwellers.

{daylami_tribesmen_descr_short}Fierce axemen hailing from the remote hills of Afghanistan.
    {daylami_infantry}Daylami infantry

Clad in mail and leather bought with plundered riches, Daylami infantry descend from the hilltops like clouds of locusts, constantly harassing enemy positions. Such is their skill and reputation that lords from lands as far as Egypt have acquired their services.
{daylami_infantry_descr_short}Tough javelinmen clad in light mail.
    {daylami_heavy}Daylami heavy infantry
{daylami_heavy_descr}Among the men of Afghanistan, none are more renowned than the Daylami. Fierce tribes from sparse, rocky lands they are accustomed to the rigors of wars. These warriors have made their fortune via bloodshed, and have the skills to prove it. Well armored in mail and lamellar and wielding a stout javelin and short sword these men are not as mobile as most skirmishers but more than make up for it with melee prowess.

Sorry I was really busy so I didn’t finish them so soon. Pope you did a really good job with the Slavics and Ghazis.
    The rest of the Kypchaks…

    {kypchak_elite_horse_archer}Kypchak Khans horse archers
{kypchak_elite_horse_archer_descr} Wearing traditional Kypchak facemasks and body armor they are inspiring to their fellow soldiers and stunning to an any enemy. True men of the steppes chosen for their noble ties, archery skills and especially their bravery. Possibly the best horse archers in the known world with a warrior’s spirit to persevere in tough situations. Ready to serve and die at the Khan’s orders, these horse archers are fiercely loyal. These soldiers just cannot wait to kill the monotheistic scum and bring the will of the Gods to new frontiers.

    {turkoman_northern_light_bowman}Turkish auxiliary light archers
{turkoman_northern_light_bowman_descr}The original Turkic tribes still remained strong during the Kypchak Confederacy but they were integrated into Kypchak society. Their ethnicity kept them from rising to power, but are willing to cooperate when war arises regardless. While some have adopted the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad others have remained true to their pagan gods and traditions. Cheap and lightly armored soldiers, they make good support troops but agile melee horsemen will make quick work of them.

    {turkoman_northern_light_horse_archer}Turkish auxiliary light horse archer
{turkoman_northern_light_horse_archer_descr}Turkic tribesmen valued two things very highly; their traditions, and their horses. Whilst they are united by ethnicity, they are divided by spiritual beliefs. Hailing from all across the vast, empty steppes they gather as support troops for their Kypchak masters. They shower an enemy with constant arrow fire, while still keeping mobile.

    {turkoman_northern_light_javcav}Turkish auxiliary light javelin cavalry
{turkoman_northern_light_javcav_descr}These nomads wear the customary Turkish hats and loose-fitting clothing. Preferring weapons and shields to armor, they rely on evasion and flanking to subdue. Powerfully hurling javelins is their forte, along with good horsemanship and self reliance on the vast grasslands and harsh steppes. Be cautious as they might be foolishly determined to charge into a melee after they run out of javelins.

{turkoman_northern_light_javelinman_descr} These nomads wear the customary Turkish hats and loose-fitting clothing. Some of these men have forsaken the pagan Gods and tribal way of life and succumbed to the influences of Islam. Regardless, they loose no shame in fighting for their pagan overlords. Strong and well meaning warriors, yet lacking as a fighting force. They hurl javelins that can hassle an enemy’s advance, while holding up a Turcoman round shield. Cavalry will deal these warriors a lethal blow.
{turkoman_northern_light_javelinman_descr_short}Nomads mixed religiously with traditional clothing. They can hassle an enemy’s advance but will be dealt their last breath from enemy cavalry.

I just want to make this one post to thank AdmiringtheEnemyeh?, Tadzreuli, and teh.frickin.pope for your excellent unit descriptions. The writing has been superb and I have enjoyed reading every one of them. Thanks for putting in the effort to work on this task that would have otherwise heavily drained my time.

    Cheers

I know you said five at a time, but just as I got started, I've been called away, so here are two more Ghazni units; heck I don't even know if you'll like em so....

Edit: and you are welcome, anything I can do to help this awesome mod I will.

    {ghazni_spearmen}Ghaznavid regulars
{ghazni_spearmen_descr}Khorasan sits astride the ancient trade routes of the far east, and there are many opportunities to gain wealth. This trade and economic stability has given rise to a large population of landowners who, while not being excessively wealthy, are rich enough to afford good armor. These men hail from all lands and peoples of the Ghaznavid Empire and when war comes they form the backbone of its armies; a reliable and sturdy anvil for the enemies of the sultan to be crushed upon!
{ghazni_spearmen_descr_short}Affluent spearmen, effective against both cavalry and footmen.
    {ghazni_archers}Ghaznavid bowmen
{ghazni_archers_descr}Archery has a proud tradition on the Iranian plateau, one that the men of Ghazni do not shirk. Many of the richer citizens still retain the deadly skills of their ancestors, and as they have the means to acquire good armor Ghaznavid archers make a potent force on any battlefield.
{ghazni_archers_descr_short}Armored bowmen doubling as medium infantry.

Three more make it five! once again, not sure if you guys wanted to do the ghulams yourselves but if not, here are the ghaznavid foot ghulams and the punjab skirmishers, hmm not much of ghazni left to do.

    {ghulam_spearmen}Ghazni Ghulam spearmen
{ghulam_spearmen_descr}Though renowned throughout the Muslim world as expert horsemen, not all Ghulam are raised as cavalry regiments. In the rough landscapes of Afghanistan and India, mounted troops are often unable to maneuver, and this dedicated, skilled corps of spearmen has been a boon to Ghaznavid generals in both conquest and defense. Well armored and trained since childhood in the art of the spear, Ghulam spearmen are often placed in areas of the thickest fighting.
{ghulam_spearmen_descr_short}Elite slave warriors armed with spears.
    {ghulam_heavy_archer}Ghazni Ghulam heavy archers
{ghulam_heavy_archer_descr}Though renowned throughout the Muslim world as expert horsemen, not all Ghulam are raised as cavalry regiments. The importance of bowmen in Ghazni is emphasized by their training of slave warriors in the traditional role of foot archers. These Ghulam archers have been trained since youth in not only the bow, but also in the mace, and any enemy who thinks they are easy prey are sorely mistaken.
{ghulam_heavy_archer_descr_short}Slave warriors trained as elite archers and competent melee fighters.
    {punjab_javelinmen}Punjabi javelinmen
{punjab_javelinmen_descr}Since the days of Mahmud, Ghaznavid rulers have recruited troops from conquered peoples, and men from the fertile plains of Punjab make reliable, if not outstanding, skirmishers; armed with a light bamboo javelin. Great care must be taken to ensure that their harassment does not leave them exposed to enemy cavalry, as their melee abilities are severely limited.
{punjab_javelinmen_descr_short}Javelin armed skirmishers from the southern provinces.
