For me E.U types was crap after playing total war games
One of the reasons why I hate total war games is that half the map is "rebel territory" when there was actual nations in those areas.Medieval 2 just seems so crap and simple for me to enjoy anymore after playing E.U.
Also EU is a far deeper campaign.
The only thing total war has going for it is its buggy battle engine.

The lack of factions and variability in the campaign has always been the biggest draw back in TW to me. EU has each in spades. Which is why I'm still playing EU and I'm not playing TW.

Yeah I mean I enjoy the battles and using longbow men but it gets boring after about the 5th time. .
Especially with the stupid dumb A.I.
I think the EU demo is better than Medieval 2 the full game
I used to play MTWXL mod even well after RTW was out. No mod since has equaled that IMO, and its not the modders fault either. There is always things like hardcoded limits on the number of factions.

When I started play EU3 I totally stopped with M2. This game is so much better...
We march, march, marchwe fight, fight, fightwe die, die, diewe rule!!!
Yeah its actually a challenge... and your allies actually HELP
Usually I will only have my weak vassals aiding me in my wars, while the major nations I'm allied to refuse to take up arms and come to my aid... But yeah, when they do enter the war they actually do help, unlike in TW where allies are worthless.
Actually allies in EUIII can be pretty cowardly, lol, especially if you're small, and they're small, and lo, you've just gone to war with FRANCE. Generally if the AI sees it has anything to gain (or they're your vassals and don't have a choice hehe) it'll help you out by declaring war.

Cowards perhaps, but non annexed and non vasselized cowards. What would you do? When I'm allied with someone and we are both small and they go to war with France, I abandon too. There is loyalty, and then there is stupid.
(I hate when some two-three province minor asks for an allience with you, you accept(they could be useful) and they immediately declare war on France/Burgundy/Austria/Castille/Ottomans. Sure, I could probably win. Nut too much work for too little gain, and I'm not ready. I let them suffer.)

Either way, allies are actually useful in EU3 compared to M2TW.
yep, and they don't immediatly attack you as soon as your borders touch theirs. RTW and MTW would be really good games if they had some semblance of a working diplomacy logic. also i like paradox games because they use a "warscore" mechanism. this means the AI will actually sue for reasonable terms, rather than the insane AI of RTW where every faction (all 10 of them) fight to the death and get wiped out early in the game
Why wont CA make TW just a bit more complex?
"When one person suffers from a delusion it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called religion." -- Robert Pirsig
"Feminists are silent when the bills arrive." -- Aetius
"Women have made a pact with the devil in return for the promise of exquisite beauty, their window to this world of lavish male attention is woefully brief." -- Some Guy
Complexity is something that large modern game companies fear to add to their games because it will make it "niche". Like idiots they believe that....
Companies now just want flavor of the week games that are extremely simple to learn.

Well uh, I'd say they are pretty much correct. Ok, the Civilization games have sold well, but they aren't all that complex. I can't think of many other big sellers that have noticable deep complexity. SimCity games perhaps, but the forth was critized for being too complex, and that is probably part of why the series is going in a different direction. The games that have hit the widest audiences are simple, while the games knwon for complexity are hitting small, pretty much niche groups of gamers.

Well, at least the battles are better in Medieval II than in Europa Universalis. By the way, from what I hear of this game, it sounds very nice. Also, does this game have Kazakhstan as faction? I would very well appreciate if anyone replies to me. Thank you.
