Thread: RTR Platinum v1.9 mod switch version

Looks like no one has posted in here lately, but hopefully this will catch someone's eye.

I have vanilla RTW 1.5 and BI 1.6. I installed this platinum 1.9 and ran the RTRPE shortcut, however, when I click imperial campaign it says please select from the list and I cannot start a campaign. Upon exiting the game it said something about a script error in line X: expected start date or something in desc_strat. So I went into the text file and moved the start date to that line, tried again same thing: select from list. Upon exiting this time it had a new script error: desc_strat line X: romans_jullii not under playable/nonplayable header. I checked the text file and it's definitely in there, the very first one listed.

The only thing that I can figure is the program I used to unlock all the factions for 1.5 is causing some sort of error. But, it did not come with any documentation so I'm not sure which files it changed/added/removed. Any suggestions other than wipe and reinstall?

I think you may have to re-install, then test. Most factions are playable in RTR PE (not slaves/rebels though).

Been using this mod for about a month now, fantastic, appreciate the hard work you all do. I've just encountered a problem and can't seem to find a fix. Been playing current game about 100yrs and suddenly when I capture a city and exterminate the population, or any other option really, the game goes black and we get the windows error message, RTR encounter......Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Thank you very much. At least I know its not my system or game. I may go back a turn and just lift the seige, cost me 9 turns but I got nothing better to do! And I can keep playing, thanks again. Don't know how I missed that post.

AFAIK, this bug is common to all versions of the game and all mods. It's pretty annoying.

Just got a question about the mod, if it's Vista compatible.
Because i've installed Vanilla, patched it and then installed the mod.
When I run the game, it just stays at the first screen (the one with the copyright messages) and when I hit enter, escape or space it crashes and I get an error code.

    Any suggestions?
Because I was really looking forward to playing an historically correct game haha.

Maybe you should take a look at this thread: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=106639.

I´m not a vista user, so i didn´t pay too much attention at the details, but it could help you with your current problem.

I looked at the topic, but I already have User Account Control turned off.
But I also haven't got any problems with the files.
Everything is, to my knowledge, in working order.

The 'funny' thing is that it not always gives an error, sometimes it just shuts off (the game that is) and that's that.

I just downloaded this mod and I have the same problem. Did you fix this? If so, how?

    Just reinstall?

EDIT 1: Nevermind. It seems like my Rome was on 1.3.. Which is strange, because I have other mods which require 1.5. play, and when i've previously looked it's been 1.5.

EDIT 2: Okay, I totally uninstalled Rome from my computer, and then re-installed. I go to Options and it says Ver. 1.5. Wtf? I'm heavily confused. :/

You might be one of the unlucky souls who got the original BI edition. When you install RTW, it's v1.5, but the BI disk is v1.4, so installing it on top of RTW v1.5 downgrades RTW to v1.3. Just install the 1.6 patch and it should take care of it. THEN, install the mod.

Bug turning out to be more of a pain than first thought. Crashing about every 4th or 5th turn now. Maybe should go for win conditions rather than take over the entire map. Shame to waste all time invested and start a new one. Still a pretty good mod.

While on the subject, i have been playing a Selucid campaign for gazillion years without 1 CTD, however with my new Roman campaign it happens fairly often. Current save game has it that 2 turns later, no matter what I do (lift siege, take over town, whatever) I get a CTD. Will the CTD fix offered (intended for Carthage IIRC) solve the Roman problem as well? Maybe Carthage is declaring war on me, after all...-

I am not getting any music for this version. The game works great, and it has sound effects, just no music. How do I get music going?
