If you are having trouble with the sword hoplites, make sure you turn on 'Shaders' in RTW video options. This fixes the issue with them. Why, I have no idea. But no CTD's after turning it on.

Let's all thank ME for bringing up the issue
No seriously, thanks for pointing it out for all of us dvk901!
If you CTD and one of the armies has a sword hoplite and shaders are set to false, then the CTD was caused by the sword hoplite.
So rather then run into this problem turn shader to true and you won't have a problem with the sword hoplites causing a CTD.

I always have them on anyway, that's why I never noticed the problem with them.

same here, i never noticed, and ive fought them heaps. i think the problem is with slower pc's. some cant handle shaders, so maybe down the track someone investigates the actual cause?

lol, i think i was the 1st person who brought it up. my pc is a piece of crap so i didn't turn shaders on, and i love to play greek factions, and i guess the two didn't mix so i complained on the bugs and issues forum.
