Yes, use Wine to play the game instead of the Linux port.
You guys can analyze coinage and artwork all you want but I don't think we'll truly know if Cleopatra was white or not until we can measure her skull with a nice set of calipers.
You should follow those, it's just the Linux specific instructions you can skip because you're playing with the Windows version of the game.
I'm using Linux Mint instead of Ubuntu and it...
I don't think this is really necessary, I didn't touch the file and folder names and the game runs fine for me. I've only had problems when trying to install a patch and the cases of the file and...
In order to run .exe files in Linux you need to install Wine. To install it try running this command in the terminal:
sudo apt-get install wine
Once you have Wine install you will be able to...
I'm fascinated with both Classic and Post-Classic period Mesoamerican history. I love the art and architecture of the Aztecs, Mayas, etc. and I think it's interesting how differently technology...
Oh man I'm excited!
So I'm curious what determines who can build nomadic enclaves and who can't? Because I noticed some factions that have nomadic neighbors such as Baktria can't build them.
This is what antifa think about those they consider fascists, which is why they do what they do.
No they don't. Both can have authoritarian tendencies but they are opposed to each other on...
I figured out what the problem was. The first letter of the unit_models/_Units folder name was capitalized in the 2.2r patch, but in the base 2.2b install it wasn't, so when I installed the patch...
After a few months away from EB I've been itching to play again so I installed the 2.2r patch and started a new campaign but to my chagrin the game now crashes while loading a campaign or a custom...
I've made it 120 turns into my Bosporos campaign so far without too many problems besides the occasional CTD. I'll post a guide later on how to install the mod with Play On Linux as it's slightly...
In my Bosporos campaign I hear vanilla voices at the start of a battle when I'm zooming in to admire my units so it seems like some of the vanilla battlefield audio files were left in as well.
I agree I think the vanilla voice files should be taken out of the game entirely. It's a little jarring when your Hoplitai are speaking ancient Greek and your Kappadokian hillmen are speaking English...
The crashes I was complaining about haven't happened since so I guess that was just a fluke (however I do crash during battles semi-frequently but I think that's a problem with my GPU). Like I said...
Are there still plans to use the remaining faction slots? I've been wondering because Quintus has said that the current campaign script has reached its limit so it sounds like there isn't any more...
Has anyone else tried playing the mod using PlayOnLinux? I'm trying it and at first it was great, custom settlements worked and my turn times were much faster than when playing on the feral...
I enjoy a challenge in the early game but I agree that having almost every faction start with negative income makes the start of a campaign more formulaic. A less precarious starting position might...
I don't use multiple armies to invade, I'm a 1-stack man myself. I just wish the AI was harder to beat and less easy to exploit, that's all. Imagine how much more fun the game would be if the AI was...
Isn't the whole point of strategy to make it easier to defeat your opponent? I really wish Total War had a more robust AI, I'd rather spend my play time coming up with strategies to defeat a strong...
Yea, which is a bummer.
In this thread they're saying that the difference between custom settlements that work and those that don't has something to do with the gates, if I remember right. I...
The settlements folder has to be deleted. You should also move no_banner.mesh from the mod folder to share/data/data/banners.
Oh I wasn't expecting a response from Feral themselves, thank you very much :thumbsup2
I'm playing EB II on Linux and I'd love to see the settlements for the mod in game, has anyone heard if Feral Interactive is going to make custom settlements work or are Mac and Linux users out of...
Sorry I skimmed over the OP and I didn't see that you already messed around with that file. Maybe try editing the resolution in medieval2.preference.cfg instead of ebii.cfg? I had the same problem...
in .local/share/feral-interactive/Medieval II Total War/VFS/Local/preferences there's a medieval2.preference.cfg file, try editing that one and see if that works.
I'm playing as Saba too and I think the trigger really ought to be changed. The capital is supposed the administrative center of your kingdom and it doesn't make a lot of sense to leave it ungoverned...
The only problem with this suggestion is that it's hard to feel like a general when you have to tell yourself not to attack your enemies poorly defended capital so that they can survive for a little...
Whenever I fight an army that has reinforcements they fail to show up and I get a pop-up telling me to upgrade my CPU, so yea it seems like the game doesn't like my processor very much.
I've...
I'm playing on a brand new machine with an i5 6500 and an SSD and when I timed it my turn time was 2:30, so I'm surprised that most of your guys' turn times are a minute or less. I'm using the Linux...
An FM. But now that you mention it, I probably had killed the general already which was why they were routing so fast. I didn't think about that before.
Is there a way to check the battle difficulty of my campaign? I thought I set the battle difficulty at Hard/Average but so far in the battles I've fought the enemy units rout pretty quickly and I've...
The EB team have always stated that historical accuracy is their primary concern. Overhand spear units aren't featured in the mod just because it looks cool.
Like others have said the reason...
Playing as Taksashila, I declared independence from the Mauryans and eventually I got the notice that an invasion was coming. A couple of turns later an army appeared and attacked Sagala, however, it...
In the description for the Indian longbowmen it says they would plant the bow in the ground and use their foot to stabilize it while shooting, to me it sounds like the draw weight for these bows was...
I can't vote in the poll but I support the second option, because it would give more depth to the allied governments.
My campaign was on an earlier version and they've increased the chances of the armies spawning since then, hopefully you just need to wait a bit longer.
My last campaign was as Taksashila, I made it to turn 170 before updating to 2.05. I tried turtling at first too but I couldn't make any money because of the Mauryan tribute and devastation caused by...
Also thanks for the help guys, I'm loving this mod.
If that's the case might I suggest having the reforms trigger automatically at a certain date? From a roleplaying perspective one could argue that if the Mauryan armies don't show up then the Empire...
