  1. Re: What do you dislike the most about Attila Total War?

Retreating armies are also totally broken. Literally no discernible logic behind where/how far they retreat and 3 grouped stacks won't all retreat to the same place, even if they're hit from exactly...
  2. Re: What do you dislike the most about Attila Total War?

I'd also like to add 1st turn city damage when under siege to the list of dislikes.

As somebody who enjoys turtling it drives me nuts when the AI besiege my settlements and everything immediately...
  3. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

100% sure it won't work? Surely worth a try just in case. Just stick med 2 on to download overnight and test it in the morning. If it works in vanilla then the mods will work too. If not you can just...
  4. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

Mine is a macbook pro retina mid 2015 model. Under a year old.

  5. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

when you open the wrapper it will install steam for windows on your mac. You then need to download med 2 on that.

Don't do anything with steam for mac, except transfer any mod files across.

  6. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

If anybody is interested, I've got custom settlements to work on my mac by using a wineskin wrapper intended for another game.

Technically it's using the windows version of m2, not feral's port,...
  7. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

MOS is a modification for the third age mod (a submod). It isn't needed to install third age, but it compiles together lots of individual alteration mods that people made for the game over the years...
  8. Re: Getting third age on a mac while using steam.

Did you merge the parts together inside the steam wrapper then move them to your mods folder?

I seem to remember mac overwrites the original stuff if you try to merge the parts together outside...
  9. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

Have you tested any other mods on your mac yet? Or just third age so far?
  10. Re: Getting third age on a mac while using steam.

Your folder is still named Third_age_3 I'm assuming? And did you merge the contents for part 1/2/patch 3.2 into your Third_age_3 folder?

The folder/contents should look something like this if...
  11. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

If anybody wants to try to figure out how to fix custom settlements with me, there's some guides here on creating custom settlements:

  12. Re: Getting third age on a mac while using steam.

For the mac port you aren't meant to replace the kingdoms campaign.

Place the third age folder in your mods folder launch med 2 (regular) then activate the mod in advanced options.

    In advanced...

Can anybody provide a link to this mod that isn't through steam workshop? Mac users can't download that way.

Sticky: Re: Modding Questions and Help Thread

Does anybody know how to toggle random bandit spawns on/off?
  15. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

Like Itza said, it sounds like you have all the right stuff. If you want to be extra certain, you can download my zipped files here: http://mab.to/tbXcS2Ayd (I've removed the broken custom...
  16. Re: A huge favour (anybody who has TATW installed)

I just checked and they only last 3 days on this site. You can apparently make the upload permanent by making a free account and doing something or other with it, but there are probably other sites...
  17. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

I was chatting to him in private message and we solved the problem.

Deleting the unique settlement sub-folders was causing him an error 361 when he loaded the battle maps, but when he moved them...
  18. Re: A huge favour (anybody who has TATW installed)

It's fully uploaded now. Might not have quite been finished when you checked, but I just tried the link and it's bringing up the .zip file for me.
  19. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

    Damn.

My upload for the custom settlement folders I removed is finished now, so I guess it's worth double checking to make sure you took out the same ones as me, although it sounds like you did....
  20. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

error 361 is the crash I was getting when I tried to remove the gate/wall custom settlement folders instead of the settlement ones.

Did you possibly make any changes like that earlier while you...

Ok here's links to my uploads for when they're finished.

  22. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

I'm uploading my working version for someone else, so when that's done you could possibly try downloading that and seeing if it works for you?

Can also upload the folders I removed so you can see...

Re: Help please - stainless steel for mac

Hey I solved it by downloading wineskin winery (not wine, which is something slightly different).

Once I booted that up I had to upgrade the engine (there's a...

Sticky: Re: Modding Questions and Help Thread

Does anybody know how you would mod a custom settlement to change its custom walls/gates back to vanilla ones?

Also what software would I need to do it? Would hexedit alone suffice, or would I...
  26. Re: A huge favour (anybody who has TATW installed)

Hey, just saw that the file has expired already. I'll upload my files for you to use and post a link, although it's worth noting I've removed custom settlements that were causing crashes so if you...
  27. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

Yup. That sounds about right. If there's any other files in the DAC folder outside of the data subfolder, you'll also want to copy them across too though.
  28. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

You will want to merge the contents of the DAC folder into the Third_age_3 folder inside your wrapper (and replace any text files with the same name (you should get prompted to do this)). Worth...
  29. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

I was having that problem with SS 6.3/6.4 It loaded the 6.4 screen then insta crashed. The problem was that mac wasn't letting me merge the 2 folders, it only gave the option to replace one with the...
  30. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

Hmm just realised that Esgaroth is lake town, which does work and does have custom walls. Combined with Cair Andros not having custom walls or gates I guess that kind of shoots down mine and itza's...
  31. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

I think the difference is they all use vanilla gates/walls (they don't have a custom gates/walls file). All the settlements that do seem to be the ones that are broken, except Cair Andros, which is a...
  32. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

There's nothing wrong with using the same wine wrapper. If you copy/pasted the TATW files from the wrapper, rather than drag/dropping them, the installer will probably put them in the right place...
  33. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

Sounds great as a temporary fix. Just tried it and can confirm it works.
  34. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

To be honest, it's basically the Southwestern part of the map that is broken. Dwarves, high/wood elves, OoG, rhun, and free peoples can all have a pretty much error free campaign with the exceptions...
  35. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

Does anyone know how we could go about removing/editing/replacing custom settlements as a temporary fix?

If we can replace the custom walls/gate designs with regular ones like at the Henneth...
  36. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

To anybody with any clue about modding settlements. Could these lines of code be what's causing a problem for mac users? I assume the files they're referencing would be stored somewhere else on a...
  37. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

Mithlond is an interesting one. It works as a large town, but stops working when upgraded to a large city. Makes me think custom walls/gates are 100% the issue.
  38. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

Not actually played any pure vanilla since I got m2 for mac, but vanilla settlement battles I've played in other mods all work perfectly.

In TATW custom settlements with vanilla walls like carn...
  39. Re: Third Age Total War for Mac: Now that Macs have M2?

Sadly it's a known problem with the mac version. Feral, who made the port are looking into a solution but have said it isn't high on their priority list.
