I've deleted the shields. The unit has shields on their backs but I'm not sure if they're visible in-game.

There is no such thing as better in this context. Milkshape is a great tool for small edits and the interface is really simple and easy to use.
It's quite hard to understand what exactly you want to do. There is no text that you can edit that will directly modify the model or texture. You have to change the models (.mesh files) and texture...
That looks like some vertices don't have weights. If you upload the .mesh I'll take a look.
I'm guessing you just want to delete the shields. Upload the .mesh file and I can do it.
That doesn't sound like third age 3.2. You're probably playing a submod like Leo's 4.0 mod or Divide and Conquer. Ask in the moddb page where you downloaded the mod.
Introduction
Making a completely custom character as a topic hasn't been covered that much over the years, the closest being Alletun's Unit Makers Tome of Knowledge. So I decided to compile my...
No. You need to make your changes to the animation files inside your Medieval II Total War\mods\teutonic\data\animations folder.
Are you using milkshape 1.8.5? You need to use 1.8.4.
I think IWTE works with 1.8.5 but I haven't tested it.
If you have the tower faces selected you can go to the texture editor and just edit the uv coordinates of those faces. It's really not that complicated.
That guide is 100% about getting one animation from a mod, SS 6.3 in his example, to your own mod. You just need to follow the guide and trust the process. If you get stuck in a particular step I can...
I wrote a step by step guide. It's for a slinger animation in EB2 but you can apply it to the animation you want.
1. Create a folder named workshop somewhere in your drive or on your desktop
2....
I think that if you want to make any changes to your game it's probably best to download bare geomod and make your changes there. Here is a guide for merging animations from a different mod...
Your descriptions of the creature crash fix and axe throwing fix are reversed.
What version of milkshape are you using? You need to use 1.8.4. Other versions will not work.
Your model has some vertices with unassigned weights, you just need to assign weights to them. Select...
Merging models is usually quite easy. What sort of glitches are you experiencing? If you're able to upload your files that would be nice.
Use modellers toolbox for vanilla files.368540
It might be called BC3. It should be under Compression when you export as .dds.
Blender is not very newbie friendly. Just google a registration code for milkshape 1.8.4, it should be fairly easy to find.
Save as DXT5. Can you upload the mesh as well?
The OP linked specific meshes. You probably need to change some things on the mesh.
I would still like to see what's going on with the unit even if you didn't modify it.
Can you upload your mesh and textures?
Your soldier line in the EDU is correct but you're not using the animation lines given in the example:
1
4 None
9 MTW2_Pike 9 MTW2_Pike
1
17 MTW2_Pike_primary
While I don't recommend doing any actual modelling in milkshape, doing basic things like unit doctoring is a lot easier in milkshape. I disagree that blender is more intuitive in terms of editing,...
It's a problem with the vertex normals (different from normal maps). I recalculated the normals in milkshape but it still didn't look very good so edited the uv to place a few more seams along hard...
Why post here? Post it their moddb page.
Last official release of Third Age is the 3.2 version. 4.0 and subsequent updates are unofficial versions made by Leo.
I think it's a problem with the mesh. I think I fixed it let me know if it looks good now. I only applied the fix to one shield and lod0. You can duplicate and move the uvs to make use of the shield...
The normal map looks a bit weird. Can you upload the diffuse texture as well?
likely a normal map issue.
Upload the normal texture and I'll take a look
There is nothing in the log. Did you install the creature crash fix?
It's not a folder is a text file system_log.txt.
medieval 2 folder. Maybe this thread can help https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?808354-CTD-with-Dwarves-Axethrowers
check your system log. Scroll to the bottom and tell us what the last few lines says.
I moved an army there and took the settlement without any issues. I can only hazard a guess that there is a problem with your installation. If anyone else can check I would appreciate it.
Can't load your save. If someone else is able to load it let me know.
Can you upload your save?
Great stuff. Good to see you around again.
I have to agree with Tartaros, scripts are superfluous. Do what you can and release it, seems to be the best course of action.
Hate to burst your bubble but King Kong did at least 80% of the work...
I posted a new link on june 27th.
