in the past years of modding, i have been in a number of instances where CTDs occur in a semi-random way...
meaning, other times it tends to cause a CTD in a certain round, other times not...

Im just trying to scale an existing m2tW model ( a ship model made by DAVIDE. Cool or sth) .It's in. CAS and i want to import it into 3ds max in order to scale it. And also I have the same problem...

and if no traits, ancs or scripts cause that CTD, then where should i look?
what could cause a CTD to behave randomly at times and specific in others (like those cases described above...)
@withwnar: so, you need to spawn an AI diplomat first near your settlements... and wait for 1 (at least) turn... right??

i have tested the games, while having deleted all of the campaign_script....
and i get an CTD in the log like this...
