You just need to add the line :
#define GAmbienteLight 14.0 //[0.00 to 20.00] Adjust GEM-AmbienteLight power (standard 15.0).
to // -- GEM HD settings -- in gem_settings.txt

I' did contemplate doing the same and forcing AA. But I have my doubts that Catalyst is actually overriding the AA settings.

I really dig your settings man. Very understated - nothing overly flash, and you keep text crisp and got rid of all the "late" GEM effects like that awful gold banding.
I personally tweak it a bit...

I have to admit, I thought this was dead.
Look forward to seeing what you next have in store.

where it says:
// -- GEM HD settings --
#define GQuality 2 //[0 or 1 or 2] Adjust GEM Quality (performance hit on 2).
#define SSAO 0 //[0 or 1] Applies SSAO like...

You need to add this line to // -- GEM HD settings --:

It's because this line was added to 5.4 but...

Poll: Re: Aztec,s New Lighting and Environmental development + DOWNLOAD VERSION 3 beta AVAILABLE !!!!!
I guess with all the new seasons introduced, it's too much work to continue editing the environment variables. I'd wager mod is dead.

I like the animations themselves but the way they're implemented is immersion breaking.
It's terrible to watch two guys fighting frantically, then turn around and walk slowly away for no reason....

I always do the same and it gives me a healthy amount of kills and captures automatically. Life's too short to spend watching the merry go round of horses chasing but never killing routers.

Looks great, makes me want to play FOTS again
April 26, 2014, 12:49 PM
A very good idea and I hope you have some success. The city scales are out of control lol.
April 25, 2014, 06:32 AM
Thanks a lot for this!
April 24, 2014, 02:24 AM
You used to be able to do it in your user config file in the line unitmultiplier=xx
If there are 100 men in a unit, setting the unitmultiplier to 0.5 will give you 50 and 2.0 will give you 200....

I am hesitant to say performance has decreased with latest hotfix, as CA will "optimise" the game further (remove AA, lower texture resolutions and change LOD settings)
To me, the game doesn't...
Yeah I was thinking this, I had east and west sides to my empire, but they didn't actually touch as my satrapy ran between us. I couldn't trade with anyone. Seems a bit silly since that bit in the...

Are there any plans to expand the Parthia roster? They're my favourite faction, but their infantry is so poor and unvaried that I don't fancy playing as them in DeI.
I'm not asking for any OP...

I've been doing a lot of testing recently, and while nothing harms FPS like DeI; I have noticed the following about GEM:
a) The HBO filter costs FPS. I've noticed about 4-5 fps in latest GEM
Love the smaller pointers!
All we need now is a smaller UI

That's a nice theory, but in practice we all know what happens when you try to disengage your units in Rome 2

What has happened to Cavalry?
I haven't played in a few months and I come back and find cavalry struggle to kill anything, they are slow and their charge is woefully underpowered

It's not to everyones taste though. And it's not finished. Most environments and weathers are not effected, and the ones that are have annoying bugs like the shining through mountains.
February 17, 2014, 12:56 PM
I disagree, I don't think the difference is significant.

Looks generally really good!
But, is the lens flare effect optional? We get lens flare in everything now, but it's not for everyone because lens flare implies a camera - which is not very...

Do not include this mod. It only supports a few environments, in a few weather conditions, and it's HDR effect is even stronger than vanillas.
February 01, 2014, 11:30 AM
Rome is a steam game. Therefore it makes sense to update all mods to use the latest patch as steam is an auto-update client. If people don't keep their game up to date - then they have to realise...
February 01, 2014, 08:14 AM
I agree with this 100%.
January 25, 2014, 10:39 AM
The posts in here have got pretty lame. Lots of you are acting like little  and taking swipes at each others screenshots. What are you trying to achieve?

Re: Maximus183's Eastern Variation - Version 1.3 Released (All eastern units reskinned, generals included. Workshop version available)
How compatible is this with major mods like DeI or Radious?

Uh oh, the nerd is mad. He's rolled his trousers into his socks and got his sports goggles on - he means business! Everybody run!

Stamina and fatigue needs to be reworked.
Right now, units in full heavy armour can sprint across the map and then engage in melee for 10 minutes without ever falling below active/fresh.
January 13, 2014, 01:11 PM
Is that the GEM HDR or Rome's HDR?
I have tried Mech Donalds no HDR mod; but for me it messes too much with the lighting. I've even had some day time battles in the rain get plunged into pitch...

The OP needs cleaning up; it's not exactly user-friendly and is as clear as mud.
January 13, 2014, 02:34 AM
i'd be interested in giving your settings a go.
January 10, 2014, 10:04 AM
The lens flare seems so out of place to me.
January 10, 2014, 02:07 AM
Looks great, very subtle! Care to share?
Eventually I will get all that awful antique redness outta there
January 07, 2014, 02:43 PM
About time naval was reworked. Well done!
January 07, 2014, 01:01 PM
I can't get it to work.
Just as well, those extra white bright sunrises look so unrealistic.
January 01, 2014, 02:45 AM
What's the best way to tell its working?
I did a few comparisons yesterday, and as far as I could tell with the mod turned on, it just made things look a bit redder.
Giving this a go. I've never been to comfortable with the vanilla UI.
