The core game has a lot of flaws but they're fixable. I've got 300+ hours logged into the original Rome (yeah...) plus a ton in Medieval 2, Empire, Napoleon, and Shogun. With mods and the latest...

Yeah, it's drastically improved from before. I was getting 2+ minutes per end turn but beta patch 3 has reduced it to 20-30 seconds, even mid to late game.
