    Celtici would be my choice. A stack of Iberian Swordsmen is insane in the early campaign after "fire at will" was added.

    Archers are my fav, but I usually use a mix of archers and slingers so to avoid my archers being wiped out by the opposition's slingers.

    This ZOC issue is one of the flaws in game.

    Btw, in the opposite situation, AI can get pass your ZOC and run away in front of your troops.

    Alternative way: lose Sparta (your initial capital) to another faction/ rebel.

    You can simply save your 2nd General standing outside the settlement by "disband" the unit. The General will teleport back to your capital and be available for duty again in the next turn.

    As mentioned above, AI factions get more Public Order bonus in higher campaign difficulty. Thus, it is very difficult to decrease the PO of a stable AI province/settlement to -100.
