  1. Re: Request to CA: Please keep these Attila/TLR Features in Future Titles

Why is managing children for the rest of the game a bad thing? You have to manage other people in your political party, after all, so that doesn't make any sense. As for detail, I agree that Attila's...
  2. Re: Request to CA: Please keep these Attila/TLR Features in Future Titles

Exactly, thank you. Marriages, assassinations, buffing/nerfing a character's dignitas etc is all a part of R2's political system. It's the cornerstone of it, it wouldn't be a political system without...
  3. Re: Request to CA: Please keep these Attila/TLR Features in Future Titles

Das it mane. I'd love that, it would finally add some cohesiveness and a real sense of who's what and from where to things.

Of course he is, anyone's free to think anything whether or not I...
  4. Re: Request to CA: Please keep these Attila/TLR Features in Future Titles

No, once again the points that address simply don't stand up to scrutiny. It's not my fault if your argument doesn't make sense and/or doesn't have any legs to stand on, as seems to be the case....
  5. Re: Request to CA: Please keep these Attila/TLR Features in Future Titles

Except that I'm not objecting without reason; as I've said 1TPY ages people the same regardless of whether it's a family tree or political system being used so that's no reason not to include a...
  6. Re: Request to CA: Please keep these Attila/TLR Features in Future Titles

But again it's not a case for either/or. R2 could work fine, if not better, if it had an Attila-style family tree to go along with the political system. As I said, a family tree is not incompatible...
  7. Re: Request to CA: Please keep these Attila/TLR Features in Future Titles

Yes, but again you're not explaining why this is a bad thing for a family tree but not for the current political system. If they age just as fast (which they do) and you feel that aging too quickly...
  8. Re: Request to CA: Please keep these Attila/TLR Features in Future Titles

Again, though, why would having implemented a family tree in R2 not worked? You have family members in R2 who are somewhat similar to a "family tree" except you don't actually get to see a family...
  9. Re: Request to CA: Please keep these Attila/TLR Features in Future Titles

Uhh, no. I'm well aware that M2 had a family tree, I'm also pretty sure that it had a 1TPY system, or maybe 2. I'm not asking about the game having a family tree, I know it did.

    So are you...
  10. Re: This game needs an overhaul battle mod (and more love & care).

Not only that but battles have traditionally been a pretty quick ordeal, or at least they certainly were in RTW and BI. Units could break and run very quickly and/or get cut to ribbons shortly, too....
  11. Re: Request to CA: Please keep these Attila/TLR Features in Future Titles

Didn't M2 have a family tree with 1TPY? What negative effect would 1TPY have on a family tree that doesn't effect a political party system with 1TPY? People dying quickly before you're able to level...

    Sticky: Re: PATCH 1.2 RELEASED

Seems the right place to ask - how "finished" is this mod? I remember a while back reading about how there were units that weren't in the mod yet, how it was frequently crashing, etc, is all that...

Sticky: Re: IB VGR II DOWNLOADS: DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS

Great to see that this mod is still going, it was always my favourite BI mod and probably my favourite TW mod overall! Crazy to think how it was 8 years ago that I first got into this, though...wow,...
  14. Re: How do I use the threat tooltip indicator in Rome 2?

I can't find it anywhere - odd. My friends are running the same mods as me and they have it in-game...this is utterly bizarre, and kind of annoying.
  15. Playing campaign with friend - why does his campaign map have black lines across land?

As the title says I'm playing a multiplayer campaign with a friend of mine and for some reason there are black lines on his screen across the campaign map. His laptop runs the game better than mine...
  16. How do I use the threat tooltip indicator in Rome 2?

Something I really like about Attila is the way that you're able to know whether a unit or a high or low threat to your own soldiers by selecting a unit of your own and then holding the mouse over...

Re: Looking for an AI mod

I can't remember the name of it so sorry for no link but there's a mod which increases the battle AI's sight-lines and thus improves BAI. It doesn't actually do anything with the BAI itself, it just...
  18. Improving my diplomats' money-making abilities but not getting improved income out of it

Not sure if diplomat is the right agent - it's the one that's not a spy or champion (dignitary? Scholar?) Anyways, I've got as many as I can in each of my strongest economic provinces and they...

Re: Historical composition of a Roman legion?

I hear ya. After a bit of google searching (which never hurts, by the way ;)) I've found that the auxiliaries essentially replaced the Republican soccii; an equal number who accompanied the legions....

Re: Historical composition of a Roman legion?

I believe a legion was composed of 10 cohorts, with 480 men in a cohort, so 4,800 infantry. Not entirely sure what kind of numbers they'd have for cavalry and skirmishers, generally much, much less,...
  21. Re: Dear lord the AI can't handle sieges; is there any way to end a battle as a win when the AI's siege equipment is destroyed?

Bloody hell it's happened again. Shame to hear that no workaround has been found, I guess I need to drop the timer down to 40 or even 30 minutes for battles. Thank god for windowed mode, now I can...
  22. Dear lord the AI can't handle sieges; is there any way to end a battle as a win when the AI's siege equipment is destroyed?

Defending Tingis against the Lusitani and had one army deploying on the north side of the city while transports decided to drop the army off on the southern coast....where there are no allied troops...
  23. Re: WRE eventually too easy - any ideas for challenging but fun house rules?

I play hard campaign, just not battles, and to be honest have no plan to change that. Strong-stat units will be beaten by weak units and levies on hard. I've tested it several times and just have no...
  24. WRE eventually too easy - any ideas for challenging but fun house rules?

As the title says, I keep finding the WRE to be fairly easy to play as. By 400AD I've almost always wiped out the Suebi/Vandals/both Gothic tribes/Rhoxolani/Iazyges/Bastarnae/Quadi, have subjugated...

    Re: Attila doesn't need mods

Actually, I've come to the conclusion that I want a Celtic-roster mod. For the second time (after having reinstalled the game, no less) the Celts in my WRE don't have units in their garrisons....

Re: Anyone ever have Integrity problems?

That's not so much an integrity penalty as it is just a removal of a bonus, though. What I believe he's after is for the troops to actually be angry at losing their beloved general vs the general...

    Re: Attila doesn't need mods

I'm perfectly happy to play the game as it stands, but then that's not just due to me not wanting mods. I wouldn't mind playing with mods if I felt they added something I want, but I don't fancy...
  28. Where is/how do you find the general in a unit?

In previous TW games the general tended to be posted at the far left on the front line of his unit; RTW let you zoom to his location by clicking on the faction icon in the UI and it would zoom to his...
  29. Re: I find the game too easy but don't like increasing battle difficulty - first world problems

The previous point mentioned about CA not disclosing what exactly difficulty levels do is actually quite interesting - do the game files reveal it at all? Asides from a video on YouTube in which...
  30. Re: I find the game too easy but don't like increasing battle difficulty - first world problems

Got to hold my hands up and admit that I was wrong RE Comitatenses getting rinsed vs Germanic levy, in my previous tests I'd been using Limitanei, not C's. In any case, I gave it a run through again...
  31. Re: I find the game too easy but don't like increasing battle difficulty - first world problems

To the bold, I did, it's how I've been playing TW games for a decade. It's just that in Attila it seems to have become far too extreme. As Dracula and Aeratus said it's completely unbalanced in its...
  32. Re: I find the game too easy but don't like increasing battle difficulty - first world problems

I wouldn't mind if levies simply put up a tougher fight and elite units were slightly more dangerous, but to just throw the baby out with the bath water and make levy units > my heavy infantry is...
  33. I find the game too easy but don't like increasing battle difficulty - first world problems

WRE campaign on hard difficulty is actually pretty difficult. The Celtic factions can be conquered within a few turns so that secures the northern frontier while the Africans can similarly be taken...

Re: Pikes in R2 vs Attila

Pretty sure some Saxon pikes (?) were able to defeat a unit of cohors when they attacked a settlement of mine - they probably had other units in support, though.

I think it's the case of the...
  35. Re: If you have more than one General, it doesn`t matter if one dies... Or so I thought!

It does seem to be the case that the first general "on the scene" in Attila determines the morale of all units in a battle - do the other generals essentially become just another unit that doesn't...

Re: How can legendary be fun RE battle difficulty?

It's true that, ultimately, this is the only way to really make battles more difficulty.

I can't imagine how difficult it is to program the BAI for TW games, much less how you'd scale it in terms...
  38. Re: What's the evilest thing you've done in Attila:TW?

I really don't know how that works, but all the same I felt bad castrating a made-up character in a game. Was shifting around awkwardly in my seat after...

Re: How can legendary be fun RE battle difficulty?

How can legendary be fun RE battle difficulty?

I've often enjoyed playing games again and again on the highest difficulties to get a real challenge and not just steam-roll over them. Brothers in Arms, Halo, CoD and The Last of Us are all games...
