Yes it's unmodified. I just did a clean med2 and EB2 install following everything step-by-step and still get the crash. I followed your advice and moved a spy over there and this time the game also...

I had the same problem but was able to fix it, just do this:
1. Copy the log section

2. Paste it in the medieval2.preference.cfg file that is located in your medieval 2 directory and save.
