    Re: Roma Surrectum Remastered?

I think some folks forget how long ago the heyday of RTW modding actually was, and that some of those modders may not even be with us any more. :(

Poll: Re: Will you be preordering Total War: ATTILA?

I have pre-ordered it, despite some reservations, this however is the last time I will do so if CA don't get it right. I love the TW series, and did enjoy Rome 2 despite the issues, but if they make...

Re: $$$ Best TW Attila Prices $$$

Currently £23.99 here. That is the cheapest I have seen the game in GBP. :thumbsup2
  4. Re: Automatically generated transport ships for armies

If we had to build transport ships with the 1TPY system, then by the time the army arrives at its destination, the soldiers will have died of old age.
  5. Re: Future campaign pack discussion and speculation

    Fall of Rome anyone?
  6. Re: Hannibal at the Gates - $10.79 (Gamefly Digital)

The code is UKMAR20OFF for residents of the UK. It takes the price down to £7.19.

Poll: Re: Game worth getting yet?

If you can get it for less than full price? Yes.
  9. Poll: Re: Idea: Old features from Rome I in DLCs (e.g. Family Tree)

I think it would essentially require a whole new game. It doesn't look like any of the old features are something that can simply be patched in, at least not without breaking a lot of other stuff...

Re: Patch 10 beta siege a.i. report

I'm not sure if it would even be possible at this point, and might even do more harm than good. They need an engine designed from the ground up, and designed with ancient warfare in mind from the...
  11. Poll: Re: Why do you still play Rome II ? Top ten possible reasons

Don't bother trying to talk sense, the haters are the living embodiment of nostalgia, and nothing will dissuade them from their holy truth. Just shake your head at their wilful ignorance, and move on.

    Re: Rome 1 music mod

I think Shogun 2 had a damned fine soundtrack, so I have no idea why this one ended up being so flat and lifeless. It's not as if there's any shortage of talent out there.

Re: Is Caesar in gaul worth buying now?

I'd wait for the inevitable Steam summer/autumn sales. You'll probably end up kicking yourself if you buy it at full price, only for a sale to happen a month of so down the line.
  14. Poll: Re: Rome 2 players; is it the quality of the vanilla game alone that keeps you playing, or are there other factors? (read before voting!)

I usually play with quite a few mods, but as I'm waiting for the latest DeI update (not save game compatible), I'm playing some vanilla again. It's actually pretty enjoyable as far as I'm concerned,...
  15. Poll: Re: Why do you still play Rome II ? Top ten possible reasons

I like TW games, and despite their numerous problems, I have always enjoyed every one of them.

    Re: [PREVIEW] - The Iceni

Nationalism has nothing to do with it my friend. There can be no national association with a single tribe, when there were many, many tribes present in Britain at that time. CA picked the Iceni...
  17. Re: Downgrade the quality of a game to gain some FPS.. WHY!!??

Pretty sure I never mentioned 15 and 30, as obviously you would notice a difference between those and a higher number.
  18. Re: Help CA Get Their Act Together Before Medieval 3 (What we can learn from Rome 2)

Not at first perhaps, but they haven't exactly been doing very well lately. When publishers are not doing well, then they will be looking to cut corners, and push out as many games as possible in as...

Don't give them any more ideas! :laughter:
  20. Re: Help CA Get Their Act Together Before Medieval 3 (What we can learn from Rome 2)

Indeed, although these days Activision are no better. This is why I prefer indie devs, who have no ties to anyone but themselves, and thus more time to get it right. I actually can't think of a...
  21. Re: Help CA Get Their Act Together Before Medieval 3 (What we can learn from Rome 2)

Shogun 2 was rushed as well, but possibly not as much as Rome 2. I think selling out to Sega was a big mistake, and possibly one which will prove fatal in the long term.

Re: DLCs: What Do You Want?

A large expansion, a la Barbarian Invasion, replete with period appropriate units. More features, not less.
  23. Re: Help CA Get Their Act Together Before Medieval 3 (What we can learn from Rome 2)

Shogun 2 was good, very good in fact. They should look to that game for inspiration, and stop trying to change the formula. Don't get me wrong, I do like Rome 2, but Shogun 2 was definitely better....

Poll: Re: The old Rome/M2TW engine vs the warscape engine

So every single Total War player comes to this forum? Well dude, better tell the TWC admins to upgrade their servers again, because they're going to be in for one hell of a ride!
  25. Re: Downgrade the quality of a game to gain some FPS.. WHY!!??

Exactly so. But there's no telling the FPS whoring nutters, they'll tell you that 120 FPS is vital to a good game experience, even though you can't actually distinguish a difference between 40 and...

Re: No PUNIC WARS DLC/EXPANSION and here's why

There weren't actually many 'big fights' during that era. Decisive pitched battles usually resulted in casualties which would make further battles extremely difficult, if not completely impossible.
  28. Poll: Re: Found units elements that aren't in the game - CORRECTLY CREST OF CENTURION!, more Gallic helmets and others

Better than not getting it at all, wouldn't you say? Unless modders can find a way to get it into the game.

Siberia? Nah, just make 'em read TWC every single day. I'm pretty sure that after a few weeks, most of them will move to Siberia anyway.

Poll: Re: The old Rome/M2TW engine vs the warscape engine

This is a little off-topic, but battleships in the traditional sense don't exist in the 21st century. There are carriers, cruisers, destroyers, and frigates. I would like to see where these cost to...

Poll: Re: The old Rome/M2TW engine vs the warscape engine

Old and new have their fair share of issues, so if the poll option were present, then I would have to say neither.
  34. Re: The Reason People are Still Upset About Rome Total War II

Indeed. M2TW made mince-meat of the rig I had back then, and so I upgraded it. ETW did the same thing years later, and again with Shogun 2. If you're going to be a PC gamer, then you have to accept...
  35. Re: The Reason People are Still Upset About Rome Total War II

  36. Re: The Reason People are Still Upset About Rome Total War II

Indeed. I think this is the reason why many developers are turning away from the PC these days, and edging more towards next-gen consoles. Everyone will have the same hardware, and they can make...
