    Re: Slow AI Turn times

I remember having to wait 5-10mn with Medieval 2 mods sometimes :rofls:
Technically it is a greatly enhanced game where you process 100~ faction moves/decisions in under a minute.

Re: Please tone down the traits/trait generation

I still do not think we should have a clear explanation for every traits in the game (for simplicity and practical reasons), but maybe there could be an addendum in the features lists of the mods...

  4. Sticky: Re: [Download & Installation] Ancient Empires: Total War Attila - Update June 9 1.0.1i

Someone might have asked, but I remember there was some talk of having an optional sub-mod with the original inflated treasury (with hundreds of thousands of currency). I do not seem to find it, is...
  5. Re: Something is wrong with the campaign design of this mod (and recent historical TW in general)

Its next to impossible to have true use of skirmisher units:

    - they were mostly used as wide screening while the armies prepared to move in (in Total War, there is no real "preparation" needed to...
  6. Sticky: Re: [Download & Installation] Ancient Empires: Total War Attila - Update June 8 1.0.1f

Please developers, dont worry about the people crying about links and updates and yadda yadda, dont even stress yourself out to answer them, you have plenty of good natured players who will take them...

Re: Please tone down the traits/trait generation

I agree with your points on complexity/opacity. Yet vanilla traits is very much under-exploited.

To my eyes, it is vastly superior to have a large number of possible traits and ancillaries, with...

Re: Please tone down the traits/trait generation

The interesting flavor is the traits themselves. Trait generation doesnt require pop-up events or cinematics... it would be such a mess too.
Even if half of your characters end up with bad skills,...

Re: Please tone down the traits/trait generation

Why the need for explained negative traits, and not for positive traits? To me it clearly shows a basis against negative traits because it makes the game harder, not a transparency issue (which...

Re: After 1353 hours played of Rome II...

Never seriously played anything else than main campaign, DeI addicted :whistling should give the macedonian wars a go one day though, seems very highly polished.
  11. Re: Shouldn't Athens have some kind of royal/elite cavalry bodyguard unit ?

Never played Athens but since the last changes in the patches they seem to have been made fairly interesting for the players.

It is normal and happened to almost everyone that tried to Liberate small factions as Epirus while at war with Rome and being the weak party. It could be part due to cultural aversion but I think its...

Completely forgot about that one, lets hope its napoleon-like "concentrated" campaign and not something more akin to kinds of skirmishes on scripted maps.

  19. Re: Off topic - don't you just hate how armor never does anything in TV/movies?

I also enjoyed how they realistically mixed slingers and swordmen within other units.

Re: 7 Game Changing Units you need to try in DEI

    Germanic Berserkers

Sounds like a cool flavor unit.

This thread encourages me to find and try more potentially deadly units.
  22. Re: Off topic - don't you just hate how armor never does anything in TV/movies?

I too wish a creative director invented entertaining ways to produce battle scenes with 0 dodgy hits, alas the majority of the time they include realism, it is for important characters to avoid death.

Re: When do you favor hoplites over pikes?

+1 for peltasts, I've experimented with as few as 4 pikes and like 8 peltasts-like units and its a real wreck. If you dont micro, they can even make a frontline of sort.

Re: When do you favor hoplites over pikes?

  29. Re: Why do I have to kill all the other members of political parties ?

Be thankful that DeI made the most out of the shallow political system! There is still some oddities and of course its not easy to roleplay with it, but its something.
