Re: Total War: ROME II Emperor Edition announced

Well politics has always been a fairly corrupt thing, being able to grease the wheels of promotions with some denarii seems quite appropriate.

Be looking forward to this update though!
  2. Poll: Re: 2nd world-wide community survey for ALL Totalwar fans

Saying that is saying the questions are biased - towards what you perceive as the majority of people's views. The survey questions should be entirely neutral. They shouldn't reflect any level of...
  3. Poll: Re: 2nd world-wide community survey for ALL Totalwar fans

While this isn't a bad idea, I have to admit it... feels kind of biased.
Up until the Rome 2 part it felt like a fairly normal survey, but the Rome 2 specific page just kind of reeks of personal...

Re: Official TW: Rome II Praise Thread

I know I said this in the sticky about it, but it can't hurt to mention it again.

Big kudos to CA for the Daughters of Mars and the Free LC for female soldiers. It's been a long time waiting for...
  5. Re: Game isn't optimised for people on `NO Timer` mode into mid -late game ...

I don't know if we'll ever see this fixed - because I don't think anyone actually knows "why" or "how" it happens. We know it happens, which is why I've always had a timer on my battles (because how...
  6. Re: What other female units would you like in the game?

Pretty much something I've been waiting/hoping for since Rome 2's announcement. I'm not sure if we'll see an overhaul mod on the same level as the original ATW for R2TW though. I'm still holding out...
  7. Re: A great siege battle ruined by... NEEDLESS TORCHES! Final appeal to CA.

Depends on how its handled, I guess. I'm not sure it'd fit well in the overall 'flow' of TW which has always kind of stayed away from RTS elements of building and acquiring things during a battle....
  8. Re: A great siege battle ruined by... NEEDLESS TORCHES! Final appeal to CA.

I didn't see that early video, but it sounded more like the original concept was that instead of building siege equipment before a battle, it was built DURING a battle. The idea was perhaps scrapped...
  9. Re: What other female units would you like in the game?

I seem to recall Radious mentioning this is already possible. The only real issue is there isn't voice files for it... so the female generals either don't talk, or will use male voices in battle I...
  10. Re: ROME II Free- LC & Daughters of Mars DLC- OUT NOW

There'll be the potential for the AI to use them, yes. Whenever they will, I'm not sure. It depends on how the AI weighs them in its army designs. I wouldn't imagine they'll use too many of them...
  11. Re: ROME II Free- LC & Daughters of Mars DLC- OUT NOW

No, I'd say its insulting to suggest that they didn't exist at all.
While they were probably never used in the field of battle, this is well, a game. The option to do so is certainly a thing. Same...
  12. Re: ROME II Free- LC & Daughters of Mars DLC- OUT NOW

A DLC I've been waiting for since forever! It's about time we got some female warriors in a Total War period - given women have historically fought in every age of history. It's insulting to suggest...
  13. Re: Historical monuments/buildings you'd like in game

I think it's a bit outside Rome 2's timeframe, but I wouldn't mind being able to make the Domus Aurea as Rome.
  14. Re: Why are the Rebels so well armoured and experienced?? All of the Time??

Slaves never capture cities, but they will sack them. This can cause a cascade effect since it'll nuke the public order in that region, which can make actual rebels spawn which can capture them.
    So...
  15. Re: Why are the Rebels so well armoured and experienced?? All of the Time??

Although its also worth noting that letting them build up will remove all your unhappiness and get you to at least neutral.
It's a calculated risk. Taking them out early prevents them from becoming...
  16. Re: Why are the Rebels so well armoured and experienced?? All of the Time??

Because otherwise the rebels aren't actually going to be a threat to you. Rebels are something to be avoided, and when they happen, they can become a problem.

It's not very realistic, but it does...

Poll: Re: A missed opportunity - Drop in Battles

As I recall, CA has talked about their design philosophy and they have said as much. They don't just modify the prior game, they start over. It's generally why every game plays so differently from...

    Re: Taxing Levels - Economy

Region wealth doesn't fluctuate in Rome 2 like that anymore. Low taxes gives a higher public order bonus, which in turn means you should be able to keep all your regions in positive public order,...

Poll: Re: A missed opportunity - Drop in Battles

CA doesn't copy/paste from game to game, they develop each one starting from the ground up. So it isn't like Rome 2 took Shogun 2, copy/paste, then started to edit everything to be Roman. So for them...
  20. Re: CA Business Practice Complaint and Discussion Thread

That would be cut content, but you can't prove GSC is cut. As mentioned, there is months of a gap between the game being "done" and the game being "released". If something is made after the game is...

Poll: Re: A missed opportunity - Drop in Battles

Because from a developer's standpoint, if people are unlikely to use it, why would you include it? It adds extra coding to the game that increases the likelihood of bugs and glitches, and all you...

Poll: Re: A missed opportunity - Drop in Battles

I wouldn't want it myself, but I wouldn't have been angry if it was in.

But from a developer's standpoint, it's just extra cost that may, or may not, actually matter at all.
    It's really a...

Poll: Re: A missed opportunity - Drop in Battles

I had forgotten about the lobby. Hypothetically, had drop-ins been in still, it could've been a way to do such a thing.
But I imagine it was simply dropped out because it wasn't as used/popular as...

Poll: Re: A missed opportunity - Drop in Battles

I imagine it was cut out because, yeah, it just wasn't really used often.

In fact, it kind of bugged me how it seems the game tried to enable the thing by default. It's one of those ideas that...
  25. Re: CA Business Practice Complaint and Discussion Thread

It being on Steam doesn't matter - there's a process a game has to go through before it gets put up on Steam, and Rome 2 also has physical disc copies as well. Rome 2 is subject to the "going gold"...

    Poll: Re: Balkan Culture?

I can see why they did it this way, rather then give everyone a unique (if fitting) culture.

You can use Rome as an example. They're the only Latin culture in the game, and as thus, suffer greatly...

Re: Is the Total War series dead?

What kind of news were you looking for?

Rome 2 is only about a year old now, and it probably has another year of support from CA before they begin working on the next TW fully.
  28. Poll: Re: Has Rome II now finally reached the level of Rome I

I have already done this countless times. While you can state as your opinion that Rome 2 is the worst one, you can't really pass that off as fact given it isn't a fact. You can't prove, beyond a...
  29. Poll: Re: Has Rome II now finally reached the level of Rome I

If that was even remotely true, this entire thread wouldn't exist.
And it certainly wouldn't be 30+ pages long.
  30. Re: CA Business Practice Complaint and Discussion Thread

I think we're not agreeing on the meaning of 'cut content'.
When I see 'cut content' I read it as: "It was finished and ready to go, but they removed it to sell it later."
    But if you mean 'cut...
  31. Re: CA Business Practice Complaint and Discussion Thread

No it doesn't. There's a few months, or more, between when a game is "finished" and when it is actually buyable. Day One DLC is typically made during this window when the team is left with nothing to...
  32. Re: CA Business Practice Complaint and Discussion Thread

It doesn't give them an incentive to cut content, because nothing proves they cut content.
All it has shown is they have completed content that was never going to be finished otherwise, it doesn't...
  33. Poll: Re: A Plea to CA for a new engine instead of a soon next Total War game. - CA confirmed the development of a 64bit Warscape on modding summit. DX12 may deal the cards new for Rome 2.

Huh interesting, I don't remember being told that. Still, I'll trust what they say then.
  34. Re: CA Business Practice Complaint and Discussion Thread

All the DLC revenue gives CA is an incentive to complete more factions after the game is released, or to add more units after it is done. It does not give them an incentive to "leave out" anything,...

  36. Poll: Re: A Plea to CA for a new engine instead of a soon next Total War game. - CA confirmed the development of a 64bit Warscape on modding summit. DX12 may deal the cards new for Rome 2.

Did they confirm it? From what I seem to remember reading, and writing, they had talked about considering it. I haven't heard of them actually confirming if it'll actually happen though.
  37. Re: Guard mode was removed from the final game?

Guard Mode is enabled permanently on all units now, rather then a toggle.
I guess earlier on they had considered making it a toggle, but decided against it.

    Re: 236 MB Update?

That's not CA's fault, that's Steam. Go ask Valve about it. It isn't like CA has the ability to turn your Auto Update on remotely, its just a bug with Steam they've never fixed.

  40. Re: Does anyone think about a totalwar in a different scale ?
