This is exactly what I tried but when a new general spawns he still gets "General's Bodyguard" instead of the infantry unit I put over it in EDU.

Thank you. I took away all cav units from the army and added the general_unit to the wanted unit's attributes. This allows me to make an infantry unit the general's bodyguard!

I tried changing the bodyguard of some characters in the Crusades campaign from the standard (and boring) "General's Bodyguard" to infantry units. Those units aren't showing up and the characters...
I found out you can change it for named characters in descr_strat but that only works for the generals in the beginning. I'll take it tho, seems too complicated to change it completely
If Melee hit rate makes cavalry kill less, doesn't it also make them harder to kill? And they are still too strong
