So little faith in me
Not my fault nothing is happening here.

I can inform that the home made traditional ale actually ended up tasting good, despite everything seeming otherwise. Most of...

Wood carving classes start up again tomorrow. What should I make?
  9. Sticky: Re: The Chat Thread (rules included in the opening post)

Storm and flooding here today. Spent half my shift at the hospital saving journals in the basement by carrying them to taller shelves. Floor was already wet, and it will continue to rise until high...

    Farm indeed.

Electric like this is really way easier than having to mess around with piping and such for cold smoking. And with just as good a result. Have to put on new wood fairly often though....

Since Akar asked for pictures, here is my process after this year's elk hunt.

True to tradition i was woken by hunters shooting at some elk/moose on the field by my house. This year it was an...

Might have tasted like Kombucha for all I know, but I've never tried that before :P

It was more that the wort was just just weak, and I could taste the herbs more than the malt.

    Re: Pictures of food

I don't sadly. But it looked like most pieces you see online. Incredibly marbled with fat
  14. Re: Vağarholmr's Cooking, brewing and food experient Thread

It really is a whole different thing than mead. Much more important to keep everything sterile, and still might go wrong. And many more steps to it.

Tried one with home made malt from my farm,...

Just some salt. It was not a big piece of meat, so saw no reason to add anything else.

And thanks! Happy with how that cutting board ended up looking.

I've always walked past the imported japanese wagyu in the store wanting to try. But then I got my first paycheck (for the two days in the end of a month when I started) and decided to celebrate with...

  20. Re: Vağarholmr's Cooking, brewing and food experient Thread

I go to the store, pick it up from the fresh or frozen meat counter :P
Most stores here have at least frozen whale.

Copy paste it or install icelandic keyboard.
  21. Re: Vağarholmr's Cooking, brewing and food experient Thread

I mean I buy most of it, a bit is hunted. It's not like I rely on roadkill or anything :P

That's why you should eat it mostly in winter.

Here's your submission from my PM's:

The young man conquered mighty Persia,
And seized all Darius held dear.

I've been following them around in Prius. Does that count?
  27. Re: Vağarholmr's Cooking, brewing and food experient Thread

Tasteless wasn't exactly the problem though. Toughness was bad, but you'd think neck meat could take. Not like it was tender from before after all.

I know a guy who shoots foxes. :wolf:
Was cleaning the head of one to get to the skull, but figured I could try the meat as well since it would be wasted.
