I think by opening the family tree and double clicking on an FM you can make them the next heir, i.e. the FM that becomes the heir once the current heir becomes leader.

DBM and EB II are the only m2tw mods for the Republican Roman period. If you just want something ancient though not necessarily from that period, you can try Peninsula Italica or Invasio Barbarorum....
