    No, the troops in a "Tulb" a unit as it known in Ayyubids terms were free born but their commander was a Tawashi. That why they called Tawashiyyah

    No it don't look like Mongol disks. It's much larger and his armor is much like plated mail with large disk like Kurg armor. Maybe it's an early type or the painter just didn't draw it...
