Any faction in the middle of honshu is harder than the rest, especially mid to late game (except oda). I personally don't get why people think uesegi is hard let alone ottomo, the starts are hard...

I'm about to try the DEI again, I REALLY appreciate that you have updated your submod. It was quite horrible when I first tried DEI without it.
uesugi starting location is great compared to some, its tricky but not that hard to relocate to north region and once your there you've won.
For me its not fun to have all difficulty at start and...
Tokugawa is easily the hardest on legendary; I got pretty dam far in a "fair" attempt with it, but it already can be impossible if you get some terrible luck.
I think playing "fair" is hard but...
but for besieging castles the OP is right. mangonels and cannons disgracefully awful.
start point is everything in legendary. kyshu the southwest island is absolutely the best starting location, once you take island you boom eco then for realm divide you have 1 frontline all the way...
