I apologize if this has been asked, but does the game have to be launched from this mod manager, and does it have to be running in the background?

That's a shame :(. Why would CA not allow the ability to change the campaign maps? I want a HUGE ancient world to conquer, not one where it feels small :(.
So far I have seen nothing in the way of these mods:
1. Can new campaign maps be created, such as a Middle Earth map or a Westeros map, etc? Could a bigger vanilla campaign map be made, where...
And those things should be patched, not sold or added as DLC. Since CA is intent on releasing DLC (not as fixes, mind you) then I'm suggesting the next DLC should be something that adds more...
Then perhaps you would like to suggest what sort of features would add immersion? You sound like someone who doesn't find immersion all that important. Calling these trivial is hardly doing them...
That deserves to be patched, not sold as a DLC or given out as a Free-LC. The mechanics for families and faction politics just aren't compelling enough to be labeled as finished and CA should just...
The next downloadable update should focus on immersion.
