It's pretty funny how this "free" pre-order DLC is for a game currently £10-20 above the usual asking price for a new AAA title, and the price will almost certainly back down to £30 within a week of...
Here's why the "it's a separate budget and team so it's ok!" thing is .
Hypothetical Scenario 1:
Developer A (DA) is in the initial stages of planning their next title, based on a popular...
Was.
It's CA's franchise, not yours, they can make it about whatever they like.
Hey, alienating the fanbase is what Total War is about as much as history, you know. If their habit of...
It really doesn't.
Anyway, they're both nearly unplayably bad without mods, so I think the main focus of comparison has to be the parts of the game that modders can't fix/change.
Rome 1:
-...
Fun Fact: Empire: Total War was also a bad game because it was going to be released on consoles. According to morons.
No one's fighting anyone, except the you and the other people who seem to be totally opposed to the idea, and attacking the strawman notion that ancient armies contained women in significant numbers,...
That's also not what you originally said.
That's also not what's in the game - try again.
Only a relatively small % of each gender are of fighting age anyway. Those two old to fight can still keep the economy ticking along back home. Remember, in this era most civs were not operating...
I think we have enough evidence to say that, in some tribes, some women sometimes fought. As opposed to the Greco-Roman world where it was unheard of, at least outside the arena.
I think the way...
Not only have I not played the game, I don't own a copy. I was referring to CA titles in general. Sorry if that wasn't clear. The criticism still applies, though, to AI behavior after it looses...
Great!
...
what
I mean, honestly, I cannot fathom the mindset here. Ok, that mechanic might need to be in the game for naval siege battles where you can't have siege equipment, but if...
Well, if you want to support CA that's 100% your decision. I don't share your opinions on the current state of Rome 2, but that's by the by.
However, I reckon you're showing just as much support...
It's not for me to tell you how to spend your money I know, but... why would you do that?
Why would do you an analysis with numbers just because you have them, when you no those numbers present an complete picture? Is it just to fit into some kind of, I don't know, a priori "Rome 2 is...
the_eye, what you fail to understand is that Rome 2 was always going to do well. Consider:
Rome is arguably CA's most popular setting, and Rome 1 was one of their most fondly remembered of...
Just how inflexible is their codebase? "Can't change which cities have walls, engine says no." Jeez.
No, pretty sure my main issue is the game mechanics. You shouldn't need any tactics to destroy what should be virtual non-combatants.
The AI is usually smart enough to keep it's transport...
As I said in the other thread, this will make no difference and may even make matters worse: transports are already ineffective at ramming but deadly in boarding attacks and, to a lesser extent, as...
I think it's a bit unfair to call out CA on this, when there's a lot of debate on how exactly hoplites held their spears.
I mean, if you want to call them out on releasing broken, unfinished games...
It's not that great. In fact, it's down right bad. The real problem with transports is how effective they are in boarding actions and with missile attacks and how units on transports are 160 men...
Don't be so sure, Warhammer nerds are just as fussy about the game's fluff as history nerds are about historical accuracy.
This is entirely correct.
Forgive me, TWC. I absolutely must get this off my chest.
Many people have expressed disappointment with Rome 2's UI. For most people, these complaints center around the look of the thing - not...
It's not just immersion breaking it affects gameplay, you need to be able to tell which units are pike units at a glance.
I've played half way through one EE grand campaign as Rome with low settings on Ye Olde Laptope, and all I can say is that I really hope it is not the final word on what CA intended Rome 2 to be....
Fair point, but the stark colours and plain backgrounds make the differences stand out far more clearly than on the 3d portraits.
Those are like 100 times better than the 3d faces in Rome 2. At least you can tell those apart as well, the generals in the game seem to have exactly the same Quake 2 looking face, so the only way...
They look absolutely dreadful. They look like they're from a game about 10 years older than Rome 2.
Two things
1) instant transport fleets do not help the AI. It ends up putting armies on the water that have no business being g there, and thus losing them, or just having them unavailable on land...
It *is* confusing. I'm pretty sure I know how it works now but back when I started out? It's not apprant at first that terms like "local commerce" are game concepts, rather than generic descriptions....
The point the OP was making was that you pay 3400 (or whatever) for an extra 180.
Are you sure about that?
Either way, it's very ambiguous.
14 turns is forever now? Plus, you're not considering whatever bonuses you have in that province, which could be up to 50% or more depending on, province size and tech level.
Except, you don't...
Porting certain features to Rome 2 would not hurt the sales of Attila, people who are going to buy are going to buy it because they want the new campaign, new factions etc not just because it has a...
At this stage, I'm not going to buy it, let alone pre-order it.
Because my computer died back in April or May or something, I can't play Rome 2 until I can afford a new one in a month or two. Which was fine because it was, you know, not very good.
But! Patch...
They should, but they won't.
CA really needs to knock it off with the generic refusal messages coming back from the diplomacy AI. Of course people are going to think it's broken if there's no clear reasons given for its actions.
