    Re: New upgrade soon

Do those components sound good to you guys; any potential compatibility problems you can see? From what I understand, if the socket number on the mobo and the CPU match then there will be no...

Yeah; I forgot the cooler - will any cooler do - the one I have now for example, or do they require a specific socket as well? And is Haswell-e likely to be much more expensive than Haswell? And...

    Re: New upgrade soon

Thanks. I am so glad I did a little more research; I was all set to splurge £250+ on an i7 (y'know - get the best CPU you can afford and all that) - now I can save around £100. :)

    So PSU OK for...

    New upgrade soon

I don't do editing or photo stuff or anything like that; I only use my system for gaming/surfing/watching movies/listening to music, so would an i5 suit me or should I push for an i7 if possible? ...

    Re: Installing USB PCI-E card

Thanks for your reply. Currently, I've got an external USB hub but it's unpowered, so anything that vibrates like an Xbox 360 pad or flightstick will cause issues - whenever it vibrates, the USB...

    Installing USB PCI-E card

I'd like to increase my PC's USB capacity. Is it simply a case of buying a PCI-E USB card and installing it in the slot - do they need to be connected to the PSU and if so do they usually come with...

  9. How to stop Firefox home button opening new windows

Recently, my Firefox has started doing something annoying: when I press the Homepage button on my keyboard, instead of simply opening a new tab, it opens a whole new window. How do I get it to open...

    Re: Sumvision Indigo Blue keyboard

My current keyboard is an MS Curve 2000, but I can't find that on sale anywhere. The new version (3000) has less buttons - no forwards/back arrows for the internet to start with.
  11. Re: Potential Scam....Can someone else show a wrong video clip of "themselves' from their webcam?

I'm not keen on webcams myself, ever since I heard that it's possible for them to be controlled by someone else. I don't like the idea of some complete stranger watching my every move.

OK. Well, my current keyboard only cost £10 and it has served me very well. I know mechanical keyboards are more durable, but I also know how expensive they are!!

    Sumvision Indigo Blue keyboard

    Hi all.

Does anyone have one of these?

  15. Re: Could the Family Tree be patched back in?

Dunno what's up with this forum, but it's really pissing me off. I'm gonna register at the official forums; you'll find me over there under the name I first registered with a TW Forum: Crusader76...
  16. Re: Thank you ca and jack you may save rome 2 after all.

That is a great article. I have a lot of optimism for the game now - have you guys ever seen such an article so soon after a game's release? Maybe there have been such articles, but I've never seen...
  17. Re: Generals should only have the "Rally" ability - that's all

I don't mind 'Inspire' and 'War Cry', but some of the other ones are a bit strange. 'Second Wind' for example - how is it that men who are dead on their feet suddenly become as fresh as daisies?
  18. Re: A plea to CA - please SCRAP the Warscape engine for the next game

I wouldn't be sad to see the end of Warscape - it has not been the most successful of TW engines. It is completely unsuitable for disciplined melee combat (not the 'duels' from Shogun 2). Missile...
  19. Re: what is wrong with the faces?!?!?!

Check your settings - looks like they're very low to me, and not just in the faces either.
  20. Re: Once you leave the early game, the game becomes BORING. Here's my ways to fix it.

The ability to have the armies magically generate their own ships was something that had me concerned even before release - seems that my concern was justified. Another of CA's peculiar design...

    Re: blood dlc?

With all the game's technical and design problems, a blood DLC is the last thing on my mind. Sort the base game out first CA, and then worry about things like this.
  24. Re: After the recent patches is ROME 2 a game I should spend money on?

Well done OP on resisting the 'new game! New game! New game!' feeling. Should you buy it now? It's massively improved after Patch 2 but there are still plenty of issues. I'd say wait a bit...

    Re: Response to SEGA/CA "apology"

They definitely lied about some aspects; for example, Lusted said that even with one turn per year, they'd still model seasons. Yeah right. It's like Total War on a planet that's stopped spinning.

    Re: Response to SEGA/CA "apology"

Trouble is, Sega own CA - not the other way round. While I agree that Sega have to go as soon as possible, like the Glazers at Man Utd they won't go unless they want to. :(

    Re: Response to SEGA/CA "apology"

Yep. We've all been asking for faster battles, Capture the Flag in open field battles, nonsense like flaming javelins, one turn per year, less music and poorer music, the removal of the immersive...
  28. Re: “Old school Javelins” – Fire At Will for all javelin-armed units.

OP - got any videos for this mod? The screenshots don't really show a great deal to be honest. :)
  29. Re: “Old school Javelins” – Fire At Will for all javelin-armed units.

Really? So Romans charged at their target in tight formation and let loose their pilae at point blank range? Give me a break. Not only does Rome TW's system look better and work better from a...
  30. Re: Sega is the most important customer of all-- Mike Simpson 2009 qoute

Well, given that the games made while with Activision were much better than what we get nowadays, I would've been fine with them staying with Activision. And yes, I know they had problems out of the...
  31. Re: Sega is the most important customer of all-- Mike Simpson 2009 qoute

True. I'd be doing exactly the same thing if I'd held fire on buying the game, and read all this stuff about 'Capture the Flag' in open battles(!) no Fire at Will for pilae armed infantry(!) no...
  32. Re: Romans in open field forced to fight like barbarians

Exactly! The game is called 'Rome 2 - Total War' (or at least it should be :p ) yet the titular faction don't fight anything like they did historically.

Who knows? CA (perhaps forced by...
  33. Re: Sega is the most important customer of all-- Mike Simpson 2009 qoute

The sooner Sega goes, the better. There is no doubt: Total War games were a lot better before Sega got involved. To be completely honest, the last Total War game that I sunk many, many hundreds of...
  34. Re: Total War: Rome II Soundtracks. Why not Jeff van Dyck? He IS the best!!! Beddow... not

I'd be happy with a track for track Rome TW replacement mod. The music in this game does not impress me at all - just like Shogun 2, Napoleon and Empire. The last great TW soundtrack was Medieval...
  35. Re: Why do people think this will be fixed? Evidence and history tells us the opposite.

Beta Patch 2 seems to suggest otherwise; it's already fixed a great many things, although there is still a lot of work to do, CA. ;)

Re: Jeff Van Dyck soundtrack mod

    AYE!

Trouble is, I have doubts about whether it'll even be possible - the new game doesn't sound like it has that many soundtrack slots.

Re: beta patch 2 makes a huge difference

Beta patch 2 is almost a miracle patch in my book - it's totally transformed the game. The CAI is no longer brain-dead, as it was out of the box and the BAI is much improved as well.
  38. Re: Multiple Turns Per Year! (2/4/6/12 TPY) (Updated 14.9.13)

That's just it. One turn per year makes no sense whatsoever. All it does is shorten the 'official' campaign time, along with taking away seasons, thereby making the game feel like it's set on a...
  39. Re: How to revert to Rome TW's original music?

Many thanks buddy. Hopefully someone can find a way to do this for Rome 2 as well, because the music is just... meh.
  40. Re: Multiple Turns Per Year! (2/4/6/12 TPY) (Updated 14.9.13)

    You mean buck?

What's so hard about implementing seasons? Surely it's just a case of altering some movement factors; maybe some attrition, and changing the texture of the bloody landscape??
