Re: Unit scale (their screen size in battles)

height is set in battle entities for unit entity, but it can also be adjusted in unit variants.

you mean size of soldiers? that can be done quite easily via editing unit height.

Re: Unit scale (their screen size in battles)

For Romans, we have only indirect mentions of their frontage. One comes from Caesar, where he mentioned he placed 3 cohorts on a ridge at Ilerda. Historians measured that ridge to be about 150-170m...

At this point it is not possible to incorporate them into Roman Empire, but in the future we could like to implement such system. In the meantime, with next update there will be some adjustments to...

    Re: Historically accurate Roman/Hannibal armies

8000 Balearic Slingers? a bit too much.. my guess would be maybe 1/10 of that number. otherwise that would be quite a large portion of Balearic population... those islands are not that big and were...

Poll: Re: Move to Attila or stay?

one thing you should remember is that once Attila is out, CA will patch it extensively for few couple months, add new things, changing the file structure etc.. while Rome 2 at that point will be...

0 exp units are rookies... no matter if they are Spartans or Romans or whoever... such soldiers will get scared of big ugly and smelly german berserkers :)

but take few exp3-4 units against them,...
  13. Re: Is it me, or are slingers still a little too strong?

i can tell you in R2TR i have some shields that have block chance of 80%, yet these units still take casualties from ranged weapons.. it seems like unit accuracy overcomes block chance, so with...

Sticky: Re: Rome II Total Realism Bug Thread

do germans have berserkers in the army? those have scary all ability.. which reduces morale a lot.. i might tone it down a bit to make them less overpowered.
  15. Re: Is it me, or are slingers still a little too strong?

True, yet 50% is just too low.. even for smallest ones.
  16. Re: Is it me, or are slingers still a little too strong?

Yes, blocking chance is quite small in vanilla.. considering shields like Scutum were 1200x700mm in size, which means they practically covered more than 80% of front profile..
  17. Re: Is it me, or are slingers still a little too strong?

Actually, Testudo was not actually used at Carrhae, at least not in the form we know it. Formation used at Carrhae was composed of entire army put into one single massive hollow square. Few years...
  18. Re: Is it me, or are slingers still a little too strong?

no, historically accurate gameplay doesn't break anything.. it is actually more fun to play.. only question is how much depth you introduce.. Slingers dont need to be all destroying force they were...
  19. Re: Is it me, or are slingers still a little too strong?

Sling was not inaccurate weapon. It was as accurate as bow, with appropriate ammunition (lead slingshots), yet, it was extremely training intensive weapon, that was hard to master. Highly experienced...
  20. Re: Is it me, or are slingers still a little too strong?

  22. Re: Is it me, or are slingers still a little too strong?

actually, it is issue of design.. Shield as it is, either blocks/deflects the missile without missile doing any damage, or it hit by missile, penetrated, and slowed down, so when it hits the body, it...

we already have this mechanism in game, anyway slightly less profound than in that mod. The main reason is, that restricting boarding action points also effects agents, so if effect is set too high,...
  24. Re: Auto-resolve is victory, but when I try to fight I always lose.

yeah, i'm working a bit on autoresolve right now, main problem with it, is that instead of stats, CA gave importance to unit classes.. so you might have strong units combat vise, but they will be...
  25. Re: Is it me, or are slingers still a little too strong?
