These are all such good points, needing to actually use diplomats is a bit tedious but definitely adds flavour and simulates how hard it would be to negociate with far away empires.
Maybe we can at least get a remaster, since Rome remastered seems to show they are at least open to the idea.
Ha that France attacking the Netherlands comic seems to perfectly describe the AI in this game. You'd think France might lose it's will to fight after losing Paris, but no chance of that happening.
Why not try declaring war on everyone turn one? That would be interesting. I think there was a steam achievement in one of the games for doing something like that and winning.

Stronghold (The game)
The only luck I've had in the past with getting protectorates is destroying their army in the field and then besieging their last city, then they sometimes accept becoming your protectorate....
This is interesting... though not a surprise. It's too bad about modding, but I can see how it is out of your control. Do you mean there will be no modding support or that modding in general will not...

Strange that CA tried to force tensions between East and West over religion when they overlooked heresies. This looks really good!
Another cause might be that you have too many slaves, though I can't imagine it having that large of an effect on public order.
Shogun 2 is definitely one of the more polished TW titles, it's main flaw, in my opinion, is its limited scope. But that may be the reason why it is so polished, it seems when CA gets more ambitious...
I'm going to go with Galicia
All aboard the Lithuania train!
Denmark
This is a tough one, I'm going to go with Kiev.
Yet another successor kingdom, and it's last ruler was Cleopatra.
Austria
Must be Scotland I'd say
Even if Attila is in every way a better game, the time period has a special place in many people's hearts, though as you say this might be mitigated because modders could make antiquity mods for...
I like your ideas with the battle map, it would be really interesting to need to find your enemy on the battle map instead of starting so close together that the main battlefield is pretty much...
That pike video was too much. It was so satisfying to watch
As long as you're not exaggerating offensive cultural stereotypes you should be fine
It's looking a bit like Novgorod to me
The ability to edit the campaign map would be a great step in the right direction for these games, so sign me up,but I don't expect any tools until they are finished using warscape for new games
I will often loot the settlement if I don't plan on holding it, sometimes it's about sending a message. Also I try to subjugate the new faction that rises when it rebels
No you just get a new capital and then whether you can trade or not is dependent upon being able to establish a trade route to that city.
Home of our glorious leader.

It's easy to criticize Marcus Aurelius for allowing his son to inherit the throne, but the only reason by the other good Emperors didn't give the throne to their biological sons is because they had...
The way I see it, if a person in Germany wants to read Mien Kampf, they're going to be able to find it online or elsewhere, so it would just be better to make sure that the versions that are out...
Satan isn't a deity, assuming you are basing this on the common Christian understanding of him. Instead he is a fallen angel who attempts to tempt people into sin to separate them from God, leading...
It seems people always forget the flaws of the earlier games, perhaps they don't remember that they have been using mods for all this time. As a few said the amount of ahistorical factions in Rome 1...
He'd probably be fine with an i5 for now
Well if they think Minecraft is violent I hope they don't find out about all the other games out there
That is the only method I've heard of so far as well ^ It's hardly worth the work it seems, even with large provinces like France rebelling for years after you capture them.
Then what, in your opinion, completely breaks the game? It is far from perfect, and some of the features really aren't as good as they could have been, but it is quite possible to have fun playing...
Or perhaps he'll be called the impaled instead of the impaler.
Regardless of the bugs and other problems I would say that Rome 2 is very playable at this point and you can use mods to fix up a lot of the problems. I wouldn't pay full price for it but I'd suggest...
