OH MY GOD that Umbar is absolutely stunning! Wonderful stuff, can't wait :)
In DaC I once killed two 1,000+ armies in the same turn with Imrahil's Bodyguard, one unit of pikes, swords and javelins. Guess who got the majority of the 2,000 odd kills :P
Dark Númenóreans best Númenóreans! Swan Knights Schwan Schnights!
Great stuff, cheers! Should make a big difference to the Umbar dynamic. Gives even more incentive to immediately backstab Harad. In 2/3 Umbar campaigns I've never done it, but now I might - looks...
Hello folks, quick request (oh no!). Would it be possible to convert one of Umbar's low level units (e.g. raiders, corsair archers) into a skirmishing javelin unit? I feel it would fit well with the...
Guys, I installed 5.1 yesterday :P Ah well, first turn I got a CTD in that version, but I've started up a Dol Amroth campaign and it's already better, and the change to coastal wardens is a HUGE...
Buying settlements is awesome. I split Harad in half doing that with Fanuilond and those two forts/towns in Harondor. Then I got Linhir off them by spamming spies, ditto with some other...
I've finished 2 games and destroyed Harad in both (though not Mordor - roleplayin' brah). They gave me a lot less trouble than Gondor/DA, because by the time you carve them up you've got your...
Like 300/400 depending on whether it's long or short campaign. But if you ever need that much.... something's gone wrong. Nevermind the faintly ridiculous 1200 MOS turns.
Simple enough really - custom settlements are generally listed as fortresses/citadels of one sort of another (unused, obviously, in general gameplay) so according to the game engine, the army is...
In one of me early DaC campaigns (as the Dúnedain I think?) I spent dozens of turns scouting that area looking for bandit settlements. Pointless, as it turned out. oh, the disappointment...
Yeah, engine limitation that I think. Annoying one as well. I don't know if there's any way, short of paying a LOT of money or something, of breaking alliances. I've always liked the idea of doing a...
Use Notepad++ (https://notepad-plus-plus.org/) to edit all that stuff, it freaks out if you use normal notepad or anything like that.
Trolls of the White Hand *shudder*. I lost Theoden, Eomund and Eomer in one single battle trying to kill a half-dead unit of those damn things. Everything else is not too threatening though since...
Wild Men of Enedwaith actually, the Hill-Men are the brown blob up North :)
A list! I love lists! (and malwabar, I am about to change that...)
Weeeelll now, tough question though... I'll go for a combo of gameplay/lore reasons and balance them out...
5. Vale of Anduin....
Well I'll be damned! The final piece in the great DaC jigsaw...
Agreed! I tend to like cavalry strikes as well - who doesn't?? - but I've been playing around with the Orc factions recently, and man it's fun to just not care about your troops :P Big contrast to my...
Say, I know it's a little late in the day for requests... but speaking of Dwarf merc cavalry, would it be a big job to a add some bow-riders to the merc pool, or just stick bows on one of them? From...
Beautifully explained! So bad-ass... in a terrible, evil way obviously. I particularly like the colonial analogies.
Any chance of seeing the Black Númenorean units soon pleeeeeeease? :D
edit:...
hah, whenever i end up in that situation i just cheat him over to where he needs to be. medieval 2's diplomat system is a little... clunky imo, so it's justifiable :P
yeah, i know - it's in the game :P i've fought a few bloody battles there...
Dale already has one i'm pretty sure. no-one on this team can do custom settlements either i believe.
@map, that's a lot of rebel settlements for 180-odd turns, something amiss there? ost-in-edhil...
hmm, I'll be completely honest and say I preferred the middle-eastern 'horde' aesthetic for the Variags, these seem somewhat overdone, and too 'familiar', not to mention being really out of step with...
hmm, Northedain going to fighting Angmar, OotMM and Dunland likely enough. best of luck to them, hope they've had a buff or two! and daaaaaang that Harad province, can't decide if that's going to be...
that's a forest, presumably darkened/obscured by the opacity of rhun's orange.
going with Mordor - they usually take more rebel settlements between them and Dol Guldur, and Minas Tirith has fallen quickly - suggests a human going straight for it. weird map though!
I would like to see that file as well, maybe so I can transplant it into DaC - my submod of choice. Like Flinn, i struggle with Mordor campaigns. I always want to turtle in true Dark Lord fashion but...
those Rivendell spears are *amazing*. the rest is great too, well done!
Nice! Thought first time I played them Dorwinion's roster needed a touching-up, lovely to see one of DaCs most compelling factions getting some love! (I personally think the Avari units could do with...
I've beaten DG as the Galadhrim, so i know your pain, their economy is just rubbish. I lucked out in my campaign and got the Vale of Anduin village just north of Lórien itself (Forodrain maybe?)...
Played them both, both are great campaigns, amongst the most fun I'd say. Anduin is action-packed as hell, my campaign was 50 turns in or so before it was ended by the most recent patch - so can't...
^^ Agreed, some campaigns are much harder than others. The easiest - Harad, Rhun, Dale (excepting invasions). The hardest - Northern Dúnedain, Enedwaith (for me anyway), Umbar (sort of), Khand (if...
hmmm, weird map, like people say. i'm going Lorién though
Hello folks, another campaign report, this time recounting the forging of a new realm for the Northern Dúnedain to call their own. Also a few comments on balance and such.
Very back and forth for...
I've played as both, and they're both interesting. Both have immediate wars, though Isengard's only real threat is Rohirrim dread-stacks as their standing army is rubbish. Dorwinion isn't as tough as...
Love the new pictures! The Variag units are a huge improvement imo. they also look similar to the variags from 'Last Days of the Third Age' - intentional or coincidence? ;)
Also, the dwarf spy is...
^^ related to that but somewhat different, one thing I'd quite like to see is Mordor having the same ability as the Northern Dunedain, in that it can recruit selected 'friendly' troops if it conquers...
Look at Umbar go! Is that the new patch? What's going on there? *Never* seen them do that (except when I'm commanding them :P)
A new map!!! OMG!
Now for a few comments :P
As a long-time Umbar player I am a bit sad to see Southern Umbar go... but it did serve little real purpose, so nice to see the space will be used...
