    I think it's the French king. You've included the King of France but you don't have any General unit in your French army. I had the same problem earlier today and that fixed it for me.

    You may be trying to use units which appear too late for the date you've set the battle to. I know people earlier were having problems when they would put musketeers in a battle - I think they fixed...
