Re: Faster battles submod of mine

In fairness I've always found that artillery crews have always had weirdly long life-spans in combat, both in vanilla games and modded. That's my experience anyways, but nonetheless that's incredibly...

Re: Faster battles submod of mine

Just about to start playing and I'm doing it with this installed, no question. It seems that the kill rate is just ridiculously slow at the moment - I watched some videos of EB2 and was amazed at how...
  3. Re: Release Date Next Friday? Also, how long does combat last?

If I ever become an architect/engineer/building guy (unlikely as I'm studying ancient history, and I just said "building guy") I'll build a monument in your honour, Alin.
  4. Re: State of the Mod Address, Fall 2013: We're Almost There

I had it in my head that it was planned to be released today....oh, cruel world. At least I'll be on holiday from next Tuesday to the Tuesday after, that'll take my mind off and it should be released...

Re: ROME II Free- LC & Daughters of Mars DLC- OUT NOW

1 - is this something that you can opt out of or is it automatically downloaded?

2 - is there actually a historical precedent to adding these units in? Besides the Scythian women no major...

    Re: SSHIP - General Discussion

I have to agree with the usurper thing being common. I still haven't had my Doge lose his "usurper" trait after the 10 turns that were mentioned earlier. It's a title that seems to stick with them...

Re: Now, how about a UI patch?

Wouldn't shift-tabbing and going into the Steam panel solve this issue? It's not perfect but the Steam browser allows you go on the net and I never really noticed any lag going into it or back to the...

Can't say it was - the one I saw Grudge's mod

Re: Now, how about a UI patch?

I feel pretty annoyed with myself right now; the other week I actually found an incredible UI mod that made it look far more "ancient" and immersive. Can't remember if it was in progress or completed...

    Re: SSHIP - General Discussion

    Got a few questions

1 - My faction leader died a while ago and the heir has got the title of "the Usurper." I think the biological heir was killed in battle so this new leader was from outside the...

Re: Testing Siege AI in Campaign...

The thing is I don't see how this can be avoided. It's a TW game, there are stationary targets on the map that all factions want to attack, you're going to have constant walled/unwalled sieges just...

    Re: SSHIP - General Discussion

Been playing it for a while now, got one thing to say - I like it.

EDIT: one question I've got though, what's the deal with diplomacy in this? Is the AI as haphazard and random as it was back in...

    Re: Can't access launcher preferences

Yeah, I'm having the exact same problem after having installed it for the second time this morning (apparently it's bad to install it on the desktop so I put it into C:\Games as the guide suggests)

  15. Re: Are navies still useless vs transports or is it just me?

    Right, so

my navy ships vs transports = ram them but avoid ramming the front, smash in the sides and they should go down with 1, maybe 2 hits
navy vs navy = auto-resolve works fine

    That about...
  16. Re: Are navies still useless vs transports or is it just me?

Got it. How do I keep boarding from happening, though? Do I just have to out-pace them and not make contact? Is there any point in having non-missile warships if ramming runs the risk of being...
  17. Are navies still useless vs transports or is it just me?

I'm playing a legendary campaign on vanilla so that may have something to do with it, but navies just feel like a waste of money as they seem powerless to take on transports in unmodded Rome 2. The...

    Re: Carthage's defenses are OP

Punic Wars were a result of Rome not getting invited to the raves and being butthurt about it
  20. What difficulty (if any) is recommended for this mod?

In my experience a lot of mods for TW games have a particular difficulty in mind to be played on so that unit stats are reflected accurately, no mod-features are broken by difficulty increases etc....
  21. Poll: Re: Is it fair to compare modded Rome 1 to unmodded Rome 2?

It's still honest. Just because he's stating that he thinks people are stupid if they vote a certain way it doesn't make him dishonest (just like if people vote that way it doesn't make him right...
  22. Poll: Re: Is it fair to compare modded Rome 1 to unmodded Rome 2?

I don't see how this thread is dishonest, though. OP has an opinion on the game, as we all do, and has made a thread putting out his own opinion and trying to see what others' are. There's nothing...

  24. Re: Client states - in my experience, completely pointless

Those were fought on the fringes of the Roman world - Caesar's war in Gaul was even considered illegal by the Senate, if for no other reason than to discredit him. By comparison the Getae were barely...

    New to RS2, basic questions

I've read through the FAQs and similar posts but I still don't feel I have even much of a basic grasp of a few things regarding RS2, particularly the economy.

When looking at roads, markets, ports...
  26. Poll: Re: Is it fair to compare modded Rome 1 to unmodded Rome 2?

It's not desperate. Just saying "you can't compare the two!" and leaving it at that is desperate, if anything. I haven't seen many good arguments put forward of why it "can't" be done, nor what's...
  27. Poll: Re: Is it fair to compare modded Rome 1 to unmodded Rome 2?

And I find that to be an exaggeration, to say the least. Did you see a certain poster talk about how Rome 2 has more historical inaccuracies than RTW, and how "less was more" in regards to...
  28. Poll: Re: Is it fair to compare modded Rome 1 to unmodded Rome 2?

I'd say yes (even though I also compare it to vanilla as well) for a very simple reason that I've argued before - a lot of features from Rome 1's mods are already present in Rome 2.

    Different/more...
  29. Re: Why some people still say that Rome 2 total war is a bad game?

I have to disagree. The thread is about why people say Rome 2 is a bad game, Sebidee seems to be putting forward why he thinks people feel that way and I'm asking if that's truly the case. Personally...
  30. Re: Why some people still say that Rome 2 total war is a bad game?

  31. Re: Why some people still say that Rome 2 total war is a bad game?

Exactly why I responded to your post ;)

  32. Re: Why some people still say that Rome 2 total war is a bad game?

Things I prefer about RTW (all for vanilla)

    - get to actually garrison your own settlements, not rely on a handful of low-level units, skirmishers and peasants to defend settlements against full...
  33. Re: Why some people still say that Rome 2 total war is a bad game?

Explain what you mean, because at the moment this is just...well it's not a proper reply. Are you saying that you think the 40% bigger budget was mostly spent on holidays? Happy hour? What did you...
  34. Re: Why some people still say that Rome 2 total war is a bad game?

Seriously? I mean really, are you being serious?

When you hear that something is being made with the highest budget of the series it makes you expect a quality product, not one that, in this case,...
  35. Re: Why some people still say that Rome 2 total war is a bad game?

    I second this.

I don't really think Rome 2 is a bad game, but it certainly isn't a great game, and I'm not sure if I can even call it a good game. Maybe "good enough" hits the nail on the head.

  37. Re: Client states - in my experience, completely pointless

  38. Re: Client states - in my experience, completely pointless

If I say I'm a millionaire will by bank account show it, too?

  39. Re: Client states - in my experience, completely pointless

I had two armies (20 and 18 units) right outside their settlement for going on ten turns. The instant I pulled them back across the Danube (and they were just on the opposite bank, so still within...
  40. Re: Units/combat/engine incapable of surrounding with enemy units with infantry?

Just to clarify I'll try to explain what I'm talking about. I have two units, A and B. The enemy have unit C. A and C are in melee combat, slugging it out. Since I want to surround and slaughter the...
