Lately I've been wondering this as well... has anyone gotten a successful game up and running? the starpos/scripting swap does nothing but remove the
"Europe" multiplayer option from the setup.

5.2 has not officially been released to the public ... So, no. however, Bran does update this mod every so often and you may very well see a release. but not until 5.2 is actually out.

In battles, would it be possible to make the Generals invisible on the battle map? Artillery singles him out immediately and makes for a short, easy battle.

On steam workshop there is indeed a world war one mod for FOTS. It had basic units and was pretty alpha. Havent heard from it in a long time sadly.
