Create A Shield Wall Effect For Roman Legionaires
Yay or nay? Post feedback here or vote. Thanks
edit: for further clarification, the effect will be solely for eye candy since it was historical. The effect will be nearly all visual except for a slightly tighter formation. It will show on all executables, barbarian invasion, rome or alexander.

Voted Yes, but it's not the biggest issue in mod ;)
Re: Create A Shield Wall Effect For Roman Legionaires
Feel free to suggest things you think are. :)
So far we will have
1. New factions in the east.
2. Huge new map. (preview available)
3. New units.
4. Rebalance.
5. New music. (thanks to Eva for his help as far as we have worked it out to date!)
6. Re coded DMB to delete all errors, (also will sprite hunt and make sure all are available so no more far away invisible units only seen up close)
7. New animations (again but not to same extent, also thanks to Rarity/Morfeakis *sorry if name mispelt and Rome Medieval! )
8. Several new features like smarter AI on battlefield than now, new histories per year, better descriptions (for descriptions a thanks to the man,the myth and the legend)
9. New artwork like strat map towns (thanks to Pat89), portraits (thanks to Joar) and villages on strat map (thanks to dimebagho)
10. Redfoxes walls and possibly I may ask permission of RS2 to use their hillforts and work those in too as another level of walls.
Of course, there are many new changes I have not mentioned like Anarchon's rework of town and character names or his many, many changes to the map and upgrades to regions, reworks on roads and resources etc...without him this next version would be pale in comparison...in fact the very basis of many of the things I have done are solely because of his map, myself and Anarchon hope to add more to this list as time goes on but so far as we have planned that is what will be in the next version. In the next ones we have discussed many, many more features ;)
Once again thanks to any modders who generously have given their permission for me to use their work, our three man team would not get very far without you guys and a thank you to all who support us in our adventure to further create and build upon this mod! Let us not forget coco the founder of this awesome mod either :)
Re: Create A Shield Wall Effect For Roman Legionaires
Hven't the roman legions relie on the testudo?I know both were used, but i know they can't both be inserted so it is up to you i guess.
Re: Create A Shield Wall Effect For Roman Legionaires
tbh id rather have the shield wall anyway. I really cant remember when I used the testudo in a battle that wasnt a custom battle where I was just screwing around, I can use the shield wall more effectivly than I could the testudo.
Re: Create A Shield Wall Effect For Roman Legionaires
I'm actually going around adding the real effect and recreating the effect in my own way, since shieldwall is hardcoded into each exe I instead decided to directly affect certain files that I can change. I'm actually guessing that what I am going to do is all the exe does anyway, except there's a few other things it recognizes like a bigger morale shock or weakness when charged from sides (these I can reproduce too) and lets the player choose an option (this I cannot). It will almost ALWAYS be on if not all the time...which is why I am putting it up to a vote, it will still look good sort of like the tv series Augustus had roman's marching.

Not completed fully though still need to do some stuff. Like I stated before, it can run on any exe.

Re: Create A Shield Wall Effect For Roman Legionaires
They'r both great.Though they should have an on/off button, as the speed is low and would take ages to attack an enemy army defending.
Re: Create A Shield Wall Effect For Roman Legionaires
You want speed? Run :P
Unfortunately I can't directly do that without editing the executable.
Re: Create A Shield Wall Effect For Roman Legionaires
That wouldn't be accurate they would be around a metre apart each
