Mini-Patch to fix Hillforts....
I've attached a zip file that contains a few files to fix the pathfinding issues in the Hillforts. This is what has been done in the next patch, but I see that some are having a lot of trouble with this, so I thought I'd provide the current 'fix'.
Extract or copy the two folders in this zip file to the 'root' RS2 'data' folder. They should ask permission to overwite files. If not, wrong place.
What these files change are the inner walls of the hillfort....changing them into 'buildings', in a sense, rather than wall files. They 'look' like walls, but actually are
a 'greek Stoa' that looks like a wall. The object of this was to widen the area on the sides of the 'walls' so that units can't get near them. My tests show that units no longer try to go thru them or even near them, because they perceive them now as objects that they can't go through. Units no longer go 'in between' the two inner walls around the settlement either, because the 'footprint' of the wall\building is too big to allow them to go there.
These psuedo-walls are also indestructible, as it was intended that the settlement had to be attacked through the gates on either end, and of course, units now cannot get up the seriously steep sides of the settlement.

Yes. It will not affect any saved games.

Excuse the noob question, but if I recall correctly it is possible to use the hillforts in custom battles. So I presume the same applies to multiplayer, right?
Also, how exactly does one enable the hillforts again?

Everyone is fine now? Because, at first I thought so too. But when I fought a defensive battle, there still were problems. There seemed to be some 'alleyways' through the walls, were enemy troops stacked and came stuck.
Units came in the 'massive sally' setup, if you know what I mean. Spread out individuals in search of a unit.
Attacking is okay, but defending does still have major problems.

where to put this precisly ? i put it in rome total war data, not in the bi data, and nothing changed

Into your RS2 folder, which should be formerly the RTW folder. RS2 is not mod foldered.
As for feedback: Great! Better pathfinding. It's definitely more practical but less sexy looking without the elevated outer walls. :crying::pinch:

Had one my hardest fought battles after installing this hotifx, the AI had no trouble with pathfinding.

Hmm, very strange. It seems to me the patch is installed correctly. I will check it again, then.

Erm... is this for RS2.1a or RS2.5? Because you didn't say.

RS2.5 - RS2.1 doesn't have hillforts.
