How do I recruit galow glasses in Eire?
How do I assananate my King?
And what determines which general is govenor of a settlement?
In Rome it used to be the General with the highest managmnet trait...but now all I see is chivalry and dread ratings.
1. Gallowgases are mercs.
2. You cannot.

How to change the number of years per turn:
1. Go to the "Medieval II Total War/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign" folder.
2. Right click on the file "desc_strat.txt", select properties and uncheck the read-only box.
3. Open the desc_strat.txt file in notepad.
4. Change the value in front of timescale
It should look like this by default:
timescale 2.00
How to change the counter from turns to the year:
1. Go to the "Medieval II Total War/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign" folder.
2. Right click on the file "desc_strat.txt", select properties and uncheck the read-only box.
3. Open the desc_strat.txt file in notepad.
4. Delete the following line:
show_date_as_turns
I hope this can help someone.
Added to first post, thanks. (I should of thought to add that).
If i don't want any annoying rebels poping up all over the world should i set the "brigand_spawn_value" to 0 ?
No, the lower the value the more often they spawn, set it to a high value.
ah right forgot about that  thanks.this thread helped alot now i can start my "real" campaign :P
Is there a feature in the game that lets you look in on a city as its growing, like it did in Rome, or did CA do away with it?
There is no longer a feature like that in the game.
I attempted to do both options to unlock all factions, but in the first one I was unable to see the preferences.cfg file in notepad, and in the second one I could not save because it was a "read only file" or something like that.
Any solutions?
The medieval2.preference.cfg can be opened in notepad, make sure you right click, and go to open with and select notepad. The second way even explains how to remove the right-only feature of the descr_strat file, reread the instructions.
sorry for the noob questions but:
if I set the timescale to 0.50, do I actually get to play a much longer game all the way to the 1500s? if so, how does the game handle this longer game? It wouldn't get too messed up or anything if I was to manage to go on until the end?
... *n00bish question alert* ...
Is there a way to make the Aztec event happen earlier?

But then I'm working on RTW experience that may or may not carry over to M2TW
Poke around the world/maps/imperialcampaign folder.
If you set the timescale to 0.50 you 4 times as many turns as you would normally (with the game at 2.00).Quote:

Papal stats = United stats?
How does changing the years per turn affect aging of generals?
I am concidering changing this setting as I was rather surprised to see how quickly gunpowder showed up in the game.
