Re: Rome II Visuals: Picture & Video Thread
One of the problems I have with the trailer is that every legionary seems to be wearing moulded or leather breastplates, rather than Lorica Hamata, along with a multitude of Plumed Imperial Italic helmets.
That, and CA seems to have gone with the Gladiator-esque depiction of the Eternal City (which is far too clean), but that's another matter.

Definitely looks like HBO's Rome. Which isn't a bad thing, and certainly better than the CGI videos we had previously. I'm all for realism, so the use of real actors is a good thing.
That being said, I see the resemblance of 300/Spartacus lighting in the screenshots. They're too dark, hazy and stylized. I don't mean to critique prematurely but I certainly want terrain/environments/lighting to look realistic, along the lines of Roma Surrectum 2.
EDIT: Looking over the screenshots again I just realized that Carthage is a custom settlement. YES CA, you're on the right track! :D

Screw that! Did you notice that the archers were garrisoned in that building were firing on the proceeding Romans?

I believe that is in game
Re: Total War: Rome II - Preview Pictures & Videos Thread
Artwork, i don't think the ingame graphics would be advanced that much at the current development stage ?! ;)
Re: Total War: Rome II - Preview Pictures & Videos Thread
Dunno, the water seems like what you would expect from a game rather than from artwork... And the triremes too, they are too much alike and simple, rather than the diversity one would find in a artwork picture. Or maybe I am too optimistic about this... :P One of the two. :D
Re: Total War: Rome II - Preview Pictures & Videos Thread
Ugh, Musculata; you're kidding right? Only the Marines used that stuff because it floated if you fell overboard.
Re: Total War: Rome II - Preview Pictures & Videos Thread
Most certainly an in game screenshot, but hopefully the dark lighting and hazy effect are photoshopped.
Re: Total War: Rome II - Preview Pictures & Videos Thread
That faces of Rome trailer was pretty badass. The music was great too.

Well I'd be really more than happy if this were in-game...but I personally honestly doubt it is...

Well, it looks 3d enough to be a pic from the game.

Hmm at first I thought no way but CA did say that units would have more then one ship and it looks from that screen shot that there is 3 ships per unit.
And I presume its Carthage judging from what looks like its famous circular harbour.

Yes, it is the siege of Carthage. There was an interview saying that CA was showing off early mechanics with this historical battle.
In-game cinematics, third-person view of a soldier in battle, generals discussing diplomacy before the bloody battle, and mighty war elephants charging consul Scipio in the streets of Carthage.
