    "The Glory That Was Rome"

just a celebration of the glorious history of the Roman empire from Ancient to Medieval times

something you don't get from school, books, movies or anything or anyone from the 20th century.
we pay the price of our parents mistakes - that is what keeps students, researchers and the masses confused when it comes to the wonderful story of humanities existence and cultural triumphs

for example - we all know the false rumors tolled to us in schools round the globe about how Columbus discovered the Americas & how Greek civilization mysteriously vanished after Alexander the great's untimely demise.

the following are some of DBA's painted army units, organized to trace the evolution of the Roman army from early beginnings to the final fall of the eternal city - to make things easier to understand & appreciate.

btw, come to think of it, why isn't their any encyclopedia, book or even a documentary that upholds this truth by discussing both the ancient & medieval periods as connected ? why are we taught history in an unintelligible manner ? someone must make a new start sooner or later and the truth will never die
note : (words in purple brackets just include events that defined the given era to ease understanding and memorizing of history regardless of accuracy or conflicting theories & to define the time-frame)

    enjoy !

You know what really pisses me off. more than anything.
I type in Eastern Roman Empire and the first thing on Googles list is BYZANTIUM!!
I fudging hate you Google and I fudging hate everyone who insists on calling the Eastern Roman Empire/Greaco-Roman Empire, by that forbidden name.
There has to be an emoticon to show my rage right now.

Well it is unfortunate, but that's why our group exists to educate people.

It's nearly impossible to ignore the terms due to how well ingrained they are in everything from academia to ecclesiastics.

It's silly. We haven't started calling Constantine the Great John so why do people insist on renaming one of the most infuential empires to exist .
  7. Armatus

Well I can tell you right now, that these days most people don't know any better (or care to know).

I was having a chat today with some people about the roman empire and when I bought the Graeco-Roman Empire they told me that there can't have been one because the Byzantines controlled the east then.

lol... well then you are doing a good job in educating them

    Things of note:

    1. Byzantium was an old pre-roman city.

    2. Byzantines (if that's what they were called, lived in Byzantium which was at best a city state in antiquity)

    3. There was no "Byzantine Empire" ever.
