Content Blue smoke billows from a small chimney atop the oldest domed hall of the Scriptorium, proverbially called Hader's peak. This is truly a rare sight. The Conclave of the Scriptorium is opening it's most ancient and sacred halls to welcome new members into its ranks. Who will these new members be though? Who will answer the call and join this most ancient order, the oldest of all TWC Content?




By day we preserve the best that TWC has to offer. Break out the inkwell and the quill, the scroll and the candles. Busily we scour the forums looking for worthy threads and posts to save in the Scriptorium. When one is found it is brought before all of us to be reviewed to make sure it is worthy of being added to our collection. However, we do not simply hoard these away never to see the light again. We catalog them into an easy to use format and make them easily accessible to all of TWC. Here is the list of catalogs in the Scriptorium:

This is only a small part of what we do though. We also host the Scriptorium Writing Competition. This is held bi-annually with one usually in the summer and the other in the winter. This is truly a glorious event! Do not hesitate, for soon you could be participating in managing this competition. There is also the Scriptorium Editorial usually published quarterly. Here librarians write articles, often reviewing the magnanimous holdings of the Scriptorium itself. Our most recent editorial is for April 2013. Take a few moments and give it a read.

Now the veil has been peeled back and much has been revealed. It is known that we are the keepers of many secrets, and not all can be revealed to the masses. Join us and find out what these might be.... :wicked:

GED, our glorious leader, hit me with a two year ban for no reason whatsoever. On top of the previous two year I had only just served.

I would defy anyone to look at the last post I made on this site (in the tribunal) and not arrive at the conclusion that GED acted like a genuine, bona fida tyrant. As you can see, I was in the middle of making a perfectly legitimate appeal - as should be any members' inaliable right under the Tos - when GED barged in, made an off topic and insulting post (including the delightful phrase "...go play in traffic...") then proceeded to ban me with merciless protraction for...what, exactly? I'm still not certain.

This happened six months before GED announced his ownership of the site, and, according to Garb, GED took ownership six months before the announcment was made. This means that - if my calculations are correct - GED had been in charge of the site for precisely five minutes before enthusiastically abusing his new powers.
Even the villian Crandar never dared be so brazen.

GED knew I would speak out strongly against new regime, so what did he do? He sent me to a gulag to two years, then announced his rise to power unopposed. Stalin did much the same thing to his enemies before taking power in Russia.

Ferrets made lurid and damaging allegations about a staff members private life and was banned for six months. Rzza threatened a female meber of staff with rape and got six months. Enoch threatened the site with hacking and got two years.
I did nothing whatsoever and was also given two years.

Garb spent years idly playing the fiddle while the TWC traditions of moderator accountability and fairness began to burn. Now GED, since taking power, has been personally starting the fires. Something has to be done about him.

A few years ago I looked at the procedures for becoming a Citizen and decided not to apply. I'm now considering applying for Citizenship again as it is needed in my current project.

1) The procedure I'm uncomfortable with is going to a Citizen and asking them to Patronize me. I don't use TWC for networking much and while I do have old and new friends here, then I don't want to bother them with this, as I'm already calling in a lot favours and asking for new.

2) I'm sure there are many positive experiences from the Patron - Nominee relationship, but there is also a risk involved (for the Patron at least), as is the case when you give a reference to a previous employee in RL.

3) I normally don't send applications before I know what the likely result will be, so is there a way to send a feeler out before seeking a Patron? I fullfill all the requirements, but my contributions are getting a little old and I don't regard my own postings to be intelligent. I do try to be helpful to others though. I think The Consilium de Civitate would probably have a good laugh when looking at my application :)
